Customers say: Quick response

"If you are contemplating refreshing your kitchen, call Cabinet Coating Kings immediately! You wonâ t regret it. The experience began with a consultation from Alex. He is knowledgeable and engaging, but not pushy. He brought samples and gave great suggestions and, we discovered it was much more affordable than we anticipated. When we wanted to kick it up a notch with new counters and backsplash, he gave us an excellent contractor referral. Christian and his team came and prepped the space to ensure that the job would be done properly, with a minimum of mess. The carpenter, Alex started the transformation off by adding gorgeous crown molding. We received a call every morning from Alex to get the game plan for the day. Christian and Chris were so friendly, explained everything to me, and treated my home with respect. They also took special care to observe safety and social distancing practices which alleviated my anxiety. Their craftsmanship and attention to detail was astounding. In four days I got the kitchen of my dreams. No one believes that these are the same cabinets. Thank you Cabinet Coating Kings! I will send an updated picture once the backsplash is installed."

Cabinet Contractors questions, answered by experts

The Janka Hardness Scale rates wood species according to their hardness levels or density. On the scale, hickory ranks as the most dense hardwood that is common for use in making cabinets. While there are woods that are harder, they're uncommon in cabinetry. Maple, oak, and walnut also rank relatively high on the scale and are excellent for use in cabinetry.

Make sure your shelves are no more than 12 inches deep. Any deeper and it will become hard to access items towards the back of the shelf. Yet, for larger walk-in pantries, homeowners may prefer 15- to 18-inch shelving to make room for larger appliances and cookware.

It depends on your ceiling height. Wall cabinets are typically mounted 54 inches from the floor. So, if you have eight-foot ceilings, you’ll need 42-inch-high wall cabinets to fill the gap. And you’ll need 54-inch cabinets if you have nine-foot ceilings. But standard-sized cabinets don’t come in 54 inches, so you'll need to stack various sizes together. And, if you have ceilings higher than nine feet, it’s a good idea to have custom stacked cabinets made to fill your space.

The designs are different enough that a conversion would mean more or less fully replacing cabinets to switch between the two. However, if you really like the frameless look but you have face frame cabinets, you may be able to mimic the style by replacing your cabinet doors with full overlay ones.

Costs range from $3,000 to $8,000, depending on the material, design, and number of cabinets.
