"Allstar Electricals Joe, called when on the way to a job and was at my home ahead of time. He gave a price to do the job and after my approval, he completed the job in a very timely manner. He had to replace two ceiling exhaust fans. Great job Joe. Will for sure call Allstar Electrical Experts, Inc. again with any more electrical problems."

"The guy who came over did a really nice job installing ceiling fans. Did not clean up the mess he made from the job and also it was a bit pricey I thought for the job. If you don't mind those two things, I would recommend them."

"The new outlet is great. They were very nice and knowledgeable with the installation. However, the ceiling fan/light repair didn’t go as well. I thought he would replace the part that was getting hot. He only removed the damaged bulb and put a new bulb in. It was smelling of burning the next day and I have not used the light since."

"I had the entire first floor flooring demo'd and new waterproof laminate floors layed. They repaired the damage floor (which they informed me of beforehand so I was prepared for the expense. The installers noted we bought cheap floors and they were patient as we returned them for better quality flooring. They showed us exactly what we needed. We didn't have all the moldings needed so as much as a pain in the butt as I was to them with coming back and forth. They still helped make sure we had what we needed an worked us in their schedule. This could have been a nightmare but Adriano made it easy inspite of hiccups caused by us. I would totally recommend using them. Just make sure you have all the flooring (the right flooring) and moldings and understand exactly what you need for them to complete the job. They will do a great job installing."

"My roofer installed 2 new attic ventilation fans. I thought I would have no problem wiring them myself but after numerous attempts I gave up and called the experts at Morningstar Electricl. From the moment Tammy answered the phone until Ken and his team finished the wiring I was totally impressed- by their professionalism, promptness and quality of work. They corrected the situation, explained what I did wrong (in a nice way,) and got my attic fans working as intended. Next time I will leave the electric to the experts at Morningstar and most definitely will tell others about their great service."

"Fantastic! I’ve used this company many times for A/C repair and maintenance and have always been pleased with their work. This was my first time having them do electrical work and am very happy with the results. Office staff were very pleasant when scheduling the appointment and I received an email reminder the day before as well as an email when the technician was en route. Pete, the electrician who did the work, was terrific. He arrived when expected, got right to work, and knew his stuff. He was very neat and took pains to make sure that the new box for the ceiling fan was properly centered in the kitchen. He also relocated the garbage disposal switch to a more convenient spot in the cabinet under the sink and changed which outlet in a bedroom was controlled by a wall switch. All this, including cleanup, was completed in just under three hours. I would definitely use this company again for electrical work as well as A/C service."

"It went excellent. Our house is from the 1950s and is challenging to make changes, but Lemont has a knack to find a way to "yes, we can do that" no matter the idea or request. He works hard, and knows a great deal about home improvements, as well as all the materials and tools he needs when he arrives. He is courteous, punctual, and is always trying to clean and protect the room/home as he works. His billing is fair and though he seems very busy he tries to work with our schedule. I am a huge fan and there has not been one negative thing in the days and days he has been tackling our tasks, always with a great attitude and professionalism"

Ceiling Fans FAQs, answered by experts

Generally, a ceiling fan should be mounted at least seven feet from the floor in the center of your room with a wall clearance of around 18 inches. If your ceiling is more than eight feet high, it’s recommended by experts that the ceiling fan be mounted around eight to nine feet from the ground. This helps ensure a better quality of circulated airflow.

Ceiling fans offer multiple benefits for your home. They improve air circulation to prevent stagnant environments and provide cost-effective temperature control, which can reduce reliance on your HVAC system and help lower utility bills. In addition to their functional advantages, ceiling fans can also enhance a room's aesthetic appeal with features like built-in lighting and modern styling.

In short, no. You can use the square footage range chart in this article to determine the right size ceiling fan for both indoor and outdoor spaces. However, weather elements can damage types of ceiling fans that aren't designed for outdoor use, so your ceiling fan should be weather-resistant if you plan to install it outside.

If you’re removing a ceiling fan without visible screws, start by locating the fan canopy—a round cover placed above the fan blades and motor. There should be a thin ring that can be turned counterclockwise to remove the canopy and reveal the screws. After unscrewing the fan, you can disconnect the wires and remove the entire fan from the mounting hardware. For safety, make sure the fan switch is turned off before you remove the canopy. It may be easier to remove the fan blades first, too.

The direction you want your ceiling fan to move in depends on the season you’re in. During summer, you want it to move counterclockwise to produce a cooling downdraft. During winter, you want it to move clockwise to circulate warm air throughout the room.
