"March 12, 2021, I contacted Luis Morales of Optimum Landscaping via Home Advisors. I was in need of installing pavers to create a patio in my back yard. Within 15 minutes of submitting an inquiry on the Home Advisor cite, Luis Morales contacted me to discuss my needs. I informed him that I wanted to create a patio in my backyard using pavers and that I lived in a Townhouse in an HOA that might pose permission issues. We set up an appointment to meet the following week to discussion the area under consideration. Mr. Morales was always courteous and professional. He was prompt for all of your meetings, which I value highly. At our initial meeting I was shown sample pavers from a brochure and from his truck. We discussed the time frame of the project and the possible delays due to Covid-19. Mr. Morales informed me that the construction company that makes the pavers is running 6 to 8 weeks behind. I totally understood the delays because of Covid and I agreed to have Mr. Morales and his company install a patio. As far as the sample pavers, I was not satisfied with the selections in his truck and the brochure did not give an accurate show of the product. Mr. Morales suggested that we go the showroom where they make the pavers. This was an excellent opportunity for me to see and feel the product and I appreciated that this was an option. So, March 27, 2021 we went to the showroom. There I picked out the pavers that I wanted to have installed. The pavers were finally installed June 5, 2021. I know that it seems like a long time between selecting the pavers at the end of March and installation in June, but with HOA, Covid-19, Sprinkler company, and the like, it took that long. All the while Mr. Morales keep me update on the status of the pavers and the work. The price of the instillation was reasonable, and the job done was very professional. I would not hesitate in recommending Luis Morales of Optimum Landscaping for any landscaping or paving work. It was a delight to work with someone professional and a decent human being. I wish he did Kitchen also."

Paving Services questions, answered by experts

If your new pavers look dull or unclean, it is likely due to efflorescence, a chalky, white powder that forms when lime in the pavers gets wet. This condition often resolves on its own, as rain will naturally wash it away within about a year. For faster results, you can use a pressure washer to clean the pavers. Alternatively, consider using cleaning products specifically designed to remove efflorescence or applying sulfuric acid crystals.

Decomposed granite and caliche can both harden into a solid surface using a plate compactor. However, due to decomposed granite’s fine particles, it’s not suitable for driveway surfaces. Some homeowners use pea gravel mixed with a gravel-binding resin to bind the loose stones and create a solid surface that won’t shift like loose gravel.

An example of permeable paving is a set of cinder blocks or natural stone pavers with room inside for natural materials, such as gravel, sand, or grass. You can also design these pavers with brick or plastic tiles.

In addition to these pavers, permeable pavement can be obtained by using a highly porous material, such as pervious concrete or pervious asphalt.

Building a road on a slope requires careful planning and will normally require a drainage system underneath to prevent flooding and damage to the road over time. Your professional may lengthen your road to create switchbacks if the slope directly to your home is too steep, as there are regulations for maximum road slope. The drainage system will help prevent runoff from the higher side of the slope from damaging the asphalt or concrete. Keep in mind that building a road on a slope isn’t a good DIY project, as a lot can go wrong.

Driveway pavers are often worth the cost. Paver types like cobblestone, brick, and concrete are highly durable, and permeable paver options can be tremendously eco-friendly. While you may pay more for a paver driveway, you’ll see great returns from the increased curb appeal and low maintenance compared to other types of driveways.
