"Ron uses USA wood rather than cheaper imported wood. He paints/stains the fence with a sprayer which provides a solid color. He does what he says he will do and did not require any payment until his work was finished."

Small jobs welcome

"Iguana Painter, led by Dominic, offers exceptional professional painting services. Dominic recently completed the painting of several rooms in our residence, demonstrating remarkable attention to detail. He proactively identified and addressed minor drywall imperfections. His meticulous approach ensured that no paint residue was left on our floors. We found him to be consistently tidy, discreet, and efficient throughout the project. We wholeheartedly award his services 5 out of 5 stars and intend to engage him for future home improvement endeavors. Furthermore, his pricing was highly competitive."

"Matt did an superb job on painting the exterior of our 3,374 square foot home. He was very neat, detailed, and meticulous. Our home never looked so good, not even when it was brand new (built in 2008)! Also, we had originally considered re-staining the front door but Matt suggested a semi gloss paint and we are so happy that we took his advice! The door looks absolutely gorgeous!!! We highly recommend Clima-Guard painting if you are looking for a true professional with proven outstanding results"

"From beginning to end Hunter and his crew were the consummate professionals. Got the work done in a timely manner at a price I thought was reasonable. He also worked with me on the colors. When the color I wanted for the shutters was not available he suggested a simple shade and it looked beautiful. He has my highest recommendation"

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

It’s necessary for paint to completely dry before exposure to rain, and that drying time varies by the type of paint used. Oil-based paint takes 6 to 8 hours to dry on average, meaning that’s the minimum time needed between the last brush stroke and the first raindrop. Latex paint dries faster at around 1 hour, and acrylic paint is even quicker, usually drying in about 30 minutes. If rain is in the forecast, check the paint manufacturer's details before laying on a new coat.

It’s a good idea to sand your porch before painting. This will remove loose or chipped paint and debris, and give you a cleaner surface so that your new paint goes on smoothly. But if the existing surface is in good condition, it’s not necessary to sand your porch before you paint.

When applying multiple coats, wait four to six hours for each coat to dry. Not waiting long enough can result in streaks, peeling, and uneven color. Plus, it will be more difficult to discern where the second coat has already been applied.

Applying too much sealer to a deck might seem like extra protection, but it can cause more harm than good. Wood is a porous material with a limited capacity to absorb liquids. When you go overboard with sealer, the excess can't soak in and instead forms a film on the surface. This leftover layer is prone to peeling, cracking, and trapping moisture, ultimately defeating the purpose of sealing in the first place.

Generally, these steps are included in exterior house painting:

  • Prepping and protecting the areas not being painted

  • Scraping away loose paint

  • Cleaning off dirt, grease, and debris

  • Caulking gaps and openings

  • Priming with a quality paint primer

  • Painting the prepared areas, including trim and accents with chosen paint finish

  • Adding a second coat

  • Cleaning up the site and disposing of tape, plastic, and drop cloths
