"It was fabulous from start to finish. Very competitive pricing. Can’t say enough about how professional Mark the owner and his crew were. They brought back the beauty of our Brazilian mahogany patio which had faded and was stained in a few places. Highly recommend."

"STOP AND READ! Hands-down without a doubt one of the best service companies I have ever used!! From my first conversation with Lisa. I knew this was the right company! I had them completely repaint every square inch of the inside and outside of my newly refurbished home. Walls, ceilings, doors, trim, drywall patching, exterior paint and trim, including stucco patching as well. I had been pressure, clean my room, my house, and my pool deck. They did it all to perfection! Absolutely the best quality painting job I have ever had! I cannot think Lisa and her incredible team from Cleanpower enough! It is so hard these days to find good service companies, and Lisa and her team are a shining example for every service company out there! Her team of guys were top notch, very professional, extremely friendly, and kept everything clean at all times and always cleaned up after themselves. first class all the way. Thanks again for the beyond fantastic service."

"John painted my living room and dining room including walls, ceilings, crown moldings, baseboards, doors and frames, and various wood trim. The dining room ceiling had a crack which he repaired beautifully. The work was completed on time at a good price. We would hire him again and recommend his services."

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

Wood stain is not flammable after it dries. The solvent in wood stain is what causes the liquid form to be highly flammable, but the stain drying process involves the solvents dissolving, which leaves behind a non-flammable product on your wood project. Wood stain is, however, flammable before you apply it, so you should always store partially full cans and used wood stain rags away from sources of heat and open flames.

Eggshell and satin finishes are best for porches because they sit in the sweet spot between scuffable matte and distracting high gloss. Your porch sees a fair amount of wear and tear, so you don’t want paint that’ll show every mark like matte, but you don’t want to be blinded by glossy paint in the sun either. Eggshell and satin have durability and a look that sits nicely in the middle.

Wood stain is typically dry to the touch within 6 to 12 hours, but it is not fully cured at this point. You should wait at least 24 hours before applying a second coat or a protective finish. For surfaces like decks, avoid walking on them for at least 24 to 48 hours, and wait even longer before placing furniture. The full curing process can take from 24 hours to one week, depending on the type of stain. Factors like high humidity and cold temperatures can extend drying and curing times, so it's wise to allow for extra time in these conditions.

The opposite is actually true: Wood stains tend to appear lighter when they’re fully dry. However, stains may darken as they weather and oxidize with age. Stains might also darken on surfaces left in direct sunlight, as UV rays can break down pigment particles and cause them to darken over time.

Staining or sealing a cedar deck or fence is highly recommended to extend its lifespan and protect it from the elements. While cedar is naturally resistant to mold and mildew, it is not impervious to damage from moisture, sun exposure, splintering, fading, and rot over time. Applying a protective finish creates a shield that preserves the wood's strength and appearance, potentially extending its life by five to 10 years.

When choosing a finish, it's helpful to understand the difference between a sealer and a stain. A sealer sits on top of the wood, whereas a combination stain and sealer soaks into the top layer. Because it penetrates the wood, a stain generally offers better protection against UV damage and rot and lasts significantly longer. For the best results that also preserve the wood's natural color, consider using a near-translucent stain.

To maintain protection, plan on reapplying the stain or sealer every two to three years, either as a DIY project or by hiring a professional.
