"I am very happy with the results. The installation process was smooth and professional, and the technicians were courteous and knowledgeable. They explained everything to me clearly and answered all my questions. They also cleaned up after themselves and left no mess behind. The new HVAC system is a Carrier model, which is one of the best HVAC companies of 2023 according to U.S. News & World Report."

"REVIEW FOR NEW UNIT SHOPPERS-LONG BUT COMPLETE First let me tell you that I am a avid reader of reviews and scoring here on Angie's List as well as YELP. I do not put as much credit on YELP as I do here on Angie's List due to the fact that these reviews are verified consumers. That being said, I want to review Air America Air Conditioning. I was in need for a NEW outside unit as well as a NEW handler inside my home. I shopped for a 5 ton compressed and a 16+ SEER handler. I called 4 locations on Angie’s List that were local to my home. All visited my home and I received a wide range of quotes. I read the article on Angie’s List about selecting a NEW air conditioner for your home and saw their opinion was more on the installer and less on the price. Basically stating that you get what you pay for. The equipment is all the same, what makes the system is how it it installed or re-installed. After seeing all of the quotes and then doing my due diligence reading the reviews, Air America’s scoring and reviews jumped out at me which caused concern and needed further research. I first received my quote from Jason, he was thorough and detailed. Jason took the time to explain what I already knew about my requirements but I appreciated his attention to detail as it was an affirmation of what I had already researched. (estimates from the 3 other contractors tried to tell me things that did not add up and tried to push extended service even before looking at my job). I was impressed with Jason and his sales practice. He was honest, straight forward and a good listener to insure that all of my needs were taken care of. I then saw all of the questionable reviews on Angie’s List, many were for repairs and very few were for new equipment. So I called the main office and asked to speak with the Office Manager Scott, (Ed replies to the Angie’s List Reviews but I was told he is just the internet “police” for their company) Scott, the office manager, understood my concerns, explained to me that their company policy is to insure that every client gets the best service and the most HONEST service even if it is not what the clients want to hear sometimes. After looking at their reviews I noticed that the majority of the bad reviews were for people who's A/C stopped working and they wanted a “quick fix” rather than a true correction of the issue. Again, you get what you pay for. Also, I noticed a trend of people complaining in hopes for a better price (a practice that seems to be more of a regular practice for many these days) I can tell you, negotiating a better price is not always the best way of getting the best installation job done. Again, you get what you pay for. I decided to go with Air America based on 1) Price (not the cheapest but not the most expensive either) 2) sales pitch and approach (as honest as a sales person could be in todays times) 3) Office Management (they recognized the review issue and took ownership of some and explained others in a professional way) 4) Integrity of the company with regards to others (Not one time did they ever disparage other competitors/contractors) And finally the unknown…The Installation. This is where the true statement of the company’s ethics are most noticeable. The Day was scheduled for a Monday at 8:30am. The crew showed up at 8:15am and quickly started to prepare my home. Tarps were laid out on the staircase and travel paths. Mark and Tito were the installers, they showed me the new equipment still in the sealed boxes. they walked the job with me, they showed me what they were going to do and they got to work. Both Mark and Tito were neat, quick and efficient with every step. They would often come and get me to show me what was being done and NOT one time did they ever try to sell me something (after all, they were the installers, not the sales team). They paid attention to the small things and made sure that the install was done smartly, clean and better than the previous install. Both Mark and Tito took great pride in their trade and their knowledge showed. At mid-day, Jason the sales person stopped by to check on the job to see if there were any issues that I had. I told him no, praised the crew, and sent him on his way knowing that it was now up to the crew to make sure this job was done properly. By the end of the day the installation was complete, they used mastic to seal all of the ductwork, they flushed the lines properly, they even made sure all of the connections were up to code. They showed me the new thermostat and walked me through for a final inspection. All of this was part of the package and not once did they try to sell me something I did not need. I thanked them on a job well done. Installation complete. Now if anything goes bad it is the hardware and not the installation, but this is covered by the manufactures warrantee. The next day I received a call from Laurene in their office as a follow-up customer service call to see how my A/C was doing. I did not go through the survey with her as I wanted to write this review first. Bottom line, Air America Air Conditioning has a great team from sales to installers. The installation team needs to be recognized as tops in their field. Both Mark and Tito were outstanding and very easy to work with. In 14 years, I will ask them to do the next job. (I will update this in a month if any issues occur)"

"I cannot say enough good things about Happy Ducts HVAC solutions. I used them a few months back to clean the air ducts in my home and was beyond impressed. Since then I have hired them to do all of my restaurants as well. They are extremely professional, do an immaculate job and have upfront, honest pricing. I had about five other companies bid on my restaurants to clean the air ducts and Happy Ducts was the clear winner when it comes to price, reputation and service. There is no need to look any further. Hire these guys for all of your HVAC needs."

Heating and Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

Set your house temperature between 55 and 85 degrees Fahrenheit while on vacation, depending on the season. If it’s winter, don’t go below 55 degrees. In the summer, the best AC temperature for energy savings is no higher than 85 degrees. You can save anywhere from 10% to 15% on your energy costs by adjusting the temperature while you’re away. If you have a smart thermostat, set up vacation modes for each season. On your way home, turn off vacation mode to allow the home to warm up or cool down before you arrive.

A 3-ton AC unit is probably too big for a home that’s 1,200 square feet. If you have a 1,200-square-foot home, you likely need a unit that’s somewhere around 1.9 and 2 tons. An AC unit that’s too large will be really inefficient and cost you a lot of extra money on your bills.

No, a furnace is not the same thing as an AC, or air conditioner, but these are both parts of an HVAC system. They both use air ducts to transport cool or hot air around your home to achieve a comfortable temperature set by your thermostat. An AC runs on electricity, while a furnace can use different fuel sources.

The higher the BTU rating an air conditioner has, the more effective it can be at cooling your space. It will cool off your room faster in the short term. However, over the long term, if the unit has too many BTUs for the space, it can wear down the unit faster and shorten its life span.

No, you should not run an air conditioner with a Freon leak. If you think your AC unit is leaking refrigerant, shut it off immediately. When you keep using a leaky air conditioner, it could damage the unit and release more refrigerant. After turning off the AC, have an HVAC pro come take a look at the unit.
