"Windows and roof were both done very well! I paid over $600 to have the windows cleaned and $650 for the tile roof. I think pricing was a bit high. It seems silly to pay $600 for a 7 hour job with a bucket of soap but window cleaners are very high priced."

"Roofing USA were very professional throughout. They were punctual, although the work got done a few weeks later than planned but such delays happen in this industry. They seem to have done a good job with the Gaco coating, although I did have to ask them to come back after they were done to redo a few patches that didn't get a thick enough layer. They were happy to do that. They only had to resurface part of my roof - the rest is a walkable roof deck - and they did leave many spots of Gaco on the roof deck which I had to ask them to come back and remove. I though the price was expensive but it was easily going to work out cheaper than the other two companies I contacted. They also had the least disruptive plan for working around my AC/heating unit. I got a higher bid from A+ Sustainable Coatings, and Hollywood Roofing told me I would have to hire a crane to lift that unit off the roof while they worked, which they said would be about $2500. I never did get a complete bid from them but with that extra cost I assumed it wouldn't be competitive, and I didn't think the crane was necessary. With Roofing USA, the price worked out at about $7 per square foot."

"Andy was a true professional. Answered all questions thoroughly and he or his staff replied quickly. We received quotes from at least 5 companies and he had the answers we were looking for. Roof looks great!!"

"Frank did a fabulous job!  He responded very quickly to my request for an estimate and was able to start the job within a week of giving me the estimate.  He was punctual, very professional, and worked meticulously to complete the kitchen backsplash with the design that I wanted done.  The backsplash design included using three different tile patterns using marble and glass tile and it looks wonderful.  Frank and his son really worked as a well coordinated team and I absolutely love my backsplash.  While Frank was here I mentioned that I needed my front door locks replaced (I had the new locks already) and he said that he could do that too.   I highly recommend Frank and will definitely use him again for more home improvement projects.  Call him, you won't be disappointed!

"I went to Arteek to design our kitchen. The designer Nicole helped to inspire us to build an efficient modern kitchen. The cabinets were delivered quickly. They installed the kitchen in four days. The work area was kept neat. They put plastic up to protect the rest of our home from dust and debris. In the near future I will be remodeling my bathroom. I am going to visit Arteek again."

Glass Block questions, answered by experts

Yes, professionals can install decorative or colored glass block patterns for a unique look.

Installing glass block windows has benefits and disadvantages, as with most materials. The pros and cons can vary depending on the type of glass block and the window location.

Pros

  • Maintains privacy while letting light into the bathroom

  • Energy efficient

  • Sealed to prevent drafts

  • Aesthetically pleasing

  • Strong and secure

Cons

  • Costly to install

  • Challenging installation

  • Challenging repair

Their thickness depends on application, but most glass walls are typically 3/8 to 3/4 of an inch thick. Although it’s not as common, single panes of glass can also be 1 inch thick.

Heavy glass tends to be more expensive than thin glass because it is stronger and more durable. In most cases, ¼-inch-thick glass is ideal for mirrors, and ⅛-inch-thick glass is ideal for residential windows. Heavier glass isn’t always necessary, and can be more challenging to hang or install. Work with a local window installation pro for replacement or new construction windows.

Glass block windows come in various patterns and styles that offer privacy and unique aesthetics. Frosted or textured glass diffuses light and enhances privacy. Wave-pattern glass blocks imitate ocean waves with flowing lines. Ice-glass blocks resemble cracked ice. Fluted glass blocks feature parallel vertical grooves, adding texture and depth. Clear glass blocks, similar to glass Coke bottles, offer transparency with some distortion and may have smooth surfaces or subtle textures, adding visual interest.
