"5 star service all the way! Did all the work and then some. Did the house, pool deck, pool cage, driveway, and sidewalk. The house paint looks new now! Did extras "while I was there anyway" - the decorative rocks in front (they look great now) the brick retention wall outside along the pool deck ( it looks new now!) and the postal box post (it looks new now too)"

"Bracewell CBC Painting, LLC did an astounding job painting the exterior of our house. His crew had great attention to detail from the carpentry repairs to the finish paint job. The crew was always on time and very friendly. The crew was able to transform a terrible paint job that was peeling off into a pristine outside that the neighbors are constantly praising while beating the prices of his competitors. As part of the prep the crew also pressure washed our driveway, walkways, and patios which really made the paint job pop once they were done. The crew kept the job site clean from start to finish and required no cleanup afterwards! The owner promised 100% satisfaction and I feel 120% satisfied. I would highly recommend."

"We hired Blake to clean the carpet on our stairs. He was very careful to use coverings around corners and furniture and took extra care to protect our home. The carpet on our stairs now looks fresh and clean and has extended the life of the carpet. He provided a great service at a very reasonable price and was friendly and professional. Highly recommended."

Deck Maintenance questions, answered by experts

Local building codes don’t specify the number of steps a deck can have before a railing is required, mainly because stair height varies widely. Most areas require decks 30 inches or higher to have a railing. While not exact, that roughly equates to four to seven steps.

To flatten a cupped deck board, start by ensuring it’s dry. Then, try flipping the board over so the cupped side faces down and reattach it. If that’s not possible, you can use screws to pull it tighter to the joists or plane the edges slightly to reduce the cup. It’s best to replace severely cupped boards.

Yes, but ensuring the deck has a solid foundation with adequate footings is critical before building, as the weight of a sunroom will put significant pressure on the structure below. Even if your deck is properly constructed, it may not be able to handle the extra weight. While some basic, lightweight, prefabricated sunrooms can sit on a deck with a strong existing foundation without additional supports, in many cases, the foundation and joists will need reinforcement. It is always best to have a structural engineer perform an inspection to evaluate the deck's quality and structural integrity. A professional can help you decide if reinforcement is sufficient or if it's better to tear down the deck and start over.

It depends on the type of wood. The average cost to build a deck out of pressure-treated lumber is $15 to $25 per square foot, but more affordable varieties such as bamboo and cedar cost less at around $3 to $10 per square foot. However, when comparing the cost of vinyl decking versus wood decking, it’s important to also consider ongoing maintenance costs. For example, most woods require regular sealing to keep them protected against weather and rot.

Yes, Ipe is more expensive than Trex decking—both in terms of materials and installation (plus, Ipe trees are endangered). On average, Ipe decking costs $10 to $25 per square foot, while Trex decking costs $5 to $12 per square foot. Because Ipe is harder to work with, the price of installation is higher, too. For Ipe decking, you’ll pay between $20 and $45 per square foot for labor. However, with Trex decking, the labor costs range from $8 to $22 per square foot.
