"Blackwell provides fast and great service! I have had them out to my house now twice and am very happy. The last time we were installing a fan when the husband fell off of the ladder and broke his wrist on a Thursday. I had family coming in that weekend and Blackwell made it out on Friday in time before family arrived. Prices are fair and everyone at the company is professional, honest and nice. Highly recommend."

I have been in the Fence Business since 1983 and we are a family owned and operated company. We do all our work ourselves and do not sub-contract our work out. We bill 1/2 to start the job and balance on completion of job. We take all credit cards but do not have any in house financing.

"They were the first ones to call me back (I called 3 companies for an estimate) and the first ones to schedule the consult.  They came when they said they would come and called w/a reminder the day before.  Manny and Eli were the team that did the job.  TOTAL PROFESSIONALS - start to finish.  On time, helped me w/the best placement for the lights, called me in before they started putting holes in the ceiling to make sure it was what I wanted and got right to work.  They even cleaned the floors before they left!!
This was not a one time thing.  I've used Archer before for ceiling fan installation and to fix this weird post light we have out by the street.  Call w/confidence.  These are the electric go-to people in Gainesville."

Ceiling Fans questions, answered by experts

There are many types of ceiling fans available, each designed for different spaces and needs. Standard ceiling fans are the most common type and work well in most rooms. Low-profile ceiling fans are better suited for rooms with low ceilings. Smart ceiling fans can be controlled with a smartphone or voice commands. For larger spaces with ceilings between 10 and 25 feet high, large ceiling fans are ideal. Dual-motor fans have two motors to produce more airflow in multiple directions. You can also find energy-efficient or Energy-Star models that can be up to 60% more efficient, as well as fans with built-in lights or retractable blades.

The number of blades for your fan poses both advantages and disadvantages. Typically, the more blades on a fan, the better the air distribution and cooling effect, but this also means that your fan will have more wear on its motor. For small rooms, three-blade fans should work fine. For larger areas like living rooms, four or five-blade fans might be the better option.

If your home already has wires for a ceiling fan (and optional light kit), then it’s quite safe to wire and install it yourself. Always be very careful to shut off the power before you begin, and confirm that the power is safely off with a non-contact voltage tester before touching anything. It’s also highly recommended to use eye protection, rubberized gloves, and tools with rubber handles to keep yourself safe from electric shock.

To determine if your ceiling box can support a fan, you must check if it is specifically fan-rated. Manufacturers are required to indicate this on the box itself. You may need to remove the existing light fixture to look inside the ceiling box for an inscription stating it is rated for fan use. If you do not see this confirmation, the box is likely not strong enough and must be replaced with a fan-rated junction box. For a proper and safe installation, you should also use a fan brace to secure the new box between the ceiling joists, which provides the necessary support for the fan's weight and motion.

Stainless steel or aluminum fans are long-lasting and have less air resistance. They are best for outdoor use as their durability helps them withstand unpleasant weather conditions. Their heavy weight requires a stronger motor, which leads to more noise than other blade materials.

Wooden fan blades are a classic, durable option. They are much quieter than metal fans and feature a wide range of styles and finishes to choose from. However, they can be damaged by moisture if not covered with plastic.

Plastic fan blades are lightweight, easy to clean, and versatile. There are various shapes and styles to choose from as plastic is easily molded and dyed. They will also deteriorate slower than other materials as they aren’t as susceptible to humidity and moisture.
