"We hired Floor Grip Medic to clean and seal our new tile and grout which they estimated to be about 1300 square feet. We had settled on a matte finish. I will start with the positive things. Rob, owner of Floor Grip Medic was very good at communications and keeping us informed, from calling us back, sitting up the estimate meeting and scheduling the cleaning / sealing of tile floor and grout. They also showed up on time when they scheduled to come out. They were very competitive with their pricing, compared to the other estimates we received. We did feel they did a very good job at cleaning the floors. Now, the negative. When it came do actually doing the sealing, we felt like they were rushing to finish the job. Thought it was very odd, that the sealer was being poured onto the floor in a puddle and spread out over the floor. I was watching behind them, pointing at spots that I could see they were missing. Also, they bumped and marked up several spots on our walls. Rob did say, if we got out the paint, that he would be happy to touch up those areas. However, with the rushing to finish, that was overlooked. We were giving instructions about not walking on the floors for several hours until it was dry, which was fine. We were out in the garage while, they were packing up their equipment and we were handed the rest of the sealer that was left in the bottle they used and was told that they were leaving it in case we saw areas that needed to be touched up. After they had left, we notice a couple of things, one was they had bumped up against and bent our garage door sensor with their equipment, so our garage door would not close until we bent the sensor back into place. The second thing we notice was the sealer was a sealer that could have easily been bought at Home Depot. Reading the instructions on the bottle, it said the bottle would cover between 800 to 1000 square foot. We left for the recommended time and come back to look over the floors. We immediately notice large areas that was missed. We called Floor Grip Medic, and Rob said that they would come back out and look at it. He called a couple days later with a time to come out. Once again, they showed up when they scheduled. We pointed out the areas we thought were missed. It was agreed that those areas were missed. Rob began to touch up those areas, explaining to us, that he was going to extend past those areas to ensure it blended in with the other areas that was already covered. The next day, we noticed that the area that was touched up, was shinier than the rest of the floors. We had areas of matte finish, shiny areas, matte area, shiny areas. We read the back of the sealer and discovered, it said on the back, that the more times you applied the sealer the more of a shine you would get on the tile. We called Flor Grip Medic again. They came back out to look at the floor. They agreed, it didn’t look right. Rob said he was going to call another floor guy (James), that he uses sometimes to come out and look at the floor and get suggestions on what could be done to correct the floor. A couple of days later, the other floor guy called and scheduled a time to come and look. James showed up and looked at the floor. He told us; he would get back to Rob with a recommendation. Rob did call us back and told us what the other floor guy had said. Rob also told us that James would call us and schedule a time to do the work to correct the floor. We did not have to pay James to correct the floor, Floor Grip Medic was going to take care of that cost. James did come out to do the work. The floor are now completed and looks good."

Floor Polishers questions, answered by experts

Yes, you can polish an existing concrete floor—as long as the slab is structurally sound and in good shape. In fact, that’s what makes this type of flooring upgrade so appealing. Polishing works best on bare concrete with minimal surface damage, although you can usually repair cracks and stains before the grinding and buffing begins. Instead of ripping out your existing concrete floor, polishing it can turn it into a high-shine showpiece that’s both practical and sleek.

Depending on flooring type and condition, costs range from $0.25 to $2 per square foot.

Besides feeling icky grit when walking barefoot in your home, not mopping the floors can create health risks. Pollen, dirt, dust, and overall filth lead to allergen, bacteria, and even mold buildup, polluting your home and creating an unhygienic environment. You also risk damaging the floors due to stains and scratches with neglect. Lastly, your home will become less inviting due to odors from the lack of cleaning.

Distilled white vinegar can help you remove candle wax from surfaces like countertops. You’ll need to scrape off most of the wax and use the distilled white vinegar to help soften and remove the rest and leftover residue. Keep in mind that while it’s possible, using distilled white vinegar isn’t an effective method for removing wax compared to the methods listed above.

Dust mops are the best option for tackling dirt and dust on marble floors. Vacuums aren’t a good idea as the brushes and beater rolls can scratch and damage your marble floors. If you must use a vacuum, make sure your vacuum has a setting for hard floors, and take care not to apply too much pressure when rolling the vacuum across your marble floor.
