when I was asking about the job to be done everything sounded good...the quote was given on line and it was good...job started in May...when they said it would start gave partial deposit and then when job was complete the remainder paid...everything seemed fine, no moisture in home at all and no signs of leaks and went through some rain...then all of a sudden the floors in different areas were getting wet and to a point of being soaked...then the vent over the stove started pouring water into the home...on the 3rd of September a repair man came and said the job was not done correctly and he fixed it...if any more leakage to call...then I called again and the president of the company came out and saw that there was no water marks on ceilings or on walls and said it was not the roof...after asking him to go up and please check the tiles he came down pretty quickly and said no sign of leakage .all looked good and he did not even know there was someone there two weeks before...now when there is rain with any wind the floors are still getting soaked...I called and some man told me to go up on the roof with a hose and put water down the vents...I could not believe that!!....I am an elderly woman and he wants me to go on the roof and put water down vents....the ridge and tiles were never checked and it is when it rains and wind that the water comes in....this problem was never before not until May...There was no ridge on the old roof....all I want them to do is to fix the problem which has to be with the ridge and tiles blowing up or maybe the nails SOMETHING IS DEFINITELY WRONG..you can put your hand in between the tiles at the door peak. .I now have to replace the flooring in the entire home plywood and vinyl.....this is very costly...I have had a lot of workers telling me it is the roof....handy men, plumbers, companies that do remolding...all saying it is the roof...as you can imagine I am very disappointed with a company that I thought would do a great job and most importantly stand by their work...I honestly feel they should do the replacing after fixing the problem.....very upset...

The roof was fine. But a few years later it developed a leak. Their office said they no longer repair roofs except, perhaps, for roofs they had installed. They said they would call back but never did.

Bill Duffield came out next day after my call to give an estimate. He went over all that I wanted and how it would be done. Described materials and I chose colors. He took care of all permits and setting up inspections. The job started when he said it would and the siding team of Mike and TJ Stalnaker were efficient, friendly, patient with explanations and did a great job on my 30 year old house. Mike also took down my ramp, rebuilt the stringers, steps and risers to the porch and replaced the ramp when new steps were painted. I needed this for future selling of house. Randy Makenzie was the painter for the front porch and was an expert. He matched the vinyl color and used deck paint for more durability on all rails, posts and deck. He pressure washed all first, and included soffits and whatever he could see that needed a good wash. He used 2 or more coats of paint to assure coverage and protection of the 30 year old wood. He was a real pleasure to talk with too. He has such a calm demeanor and really gets down to work at the same time. They also stopped the job for me to go on a prearranged trip for 10 days and restarted as soon as I came back. Bill D was so nice about that interruption and I really appreciate his attitude and business model. Thanx to all from Duffield Home Improvements for a very pleasant experience for this large job.

Excellent. The crew was fast professional and courteous . End results were better than I expected . There was alot of damage to the plywood and rafters and they did a great job fixing everything.

This provider was great. Called when he said he would call. Came when he said he would come. Quick follow-up. Very responsive. We were convinced there was a lot of rotten wood that needed to be replaced. The guys torn the old roof off and said it all looked solid, that the issue was a place in the trim. So honest.

I'm using that one after getting bids from eight. Unfortunately, it was a disaster. I would not recommend that guy to anybody because eight months ago, roof was done and it was damaged and caused problems. They didn't come when they said they were going to come. They didn't get the inspection task. They got portion of the roofing inspector. The roof then leaked and it ruined my ceiling. The ceiling had to be repainted. They were supposed to finish the job in a couple of weeks. It took eight months. They wouldn't be responsive. It was a terrible experience. The actual ceiling was pouring water inside the house. In the end, they actually tried to charge me more for things they couldn't charge me like things that they failed to meet with the inspection.

They were good. They did a good job; it was above average. It was not a major job. I actually called them recently about another job. I didn't hear back from them, so that was disconcerting; I know that they are busy. It was really straightforward. They came and gave me an estimate. I said that I wanted to do the work. They showed up when they were going to. They were quick and efficient; they were in and out. I felt comfortable with the crew. The only thing was that a year later, I am calling them back for a second larger job, and I didn't get any response. I am trying to decide if I want to pursue that or not. There are some other factors that I'm dealing with that don't involve them. It was weeks ago that I called them, and I haven't heard anything. I will give them next week, and then call them again. The work was really good.

We had an excellent experience with them. When they were done with the roof, there were a couple of leaks, but they came right back and corrected everything right away. You call them, and they're here. That's what I like. They return your calls and they come out when they say they will. We had to order the roofing, so that took awhile. I had no problems with them. It went right through.

It was not a real bargain, but it was not exorbitant because we had a number of estimates and it was in that ballpark so it was fine. They did fine. It took him longer than I expected. In New Jersey we had a roof put on and it took 1 day. Here it took him about 4-5 days to get it done. There were no real big problems. Their clean up wasn't all that it could be, and they disconnected part of the sprinkler system and didn't tell us, but by large they did good work. We don't have any real complaint.

After my roof was replaced, I asked DHI to replace my soffits. They sent Barry Wetzel to do the work. He spent 2 or 3 days replacing my soffits and did a beautiful, meticulous job. I never realized that soffit replacement could be an art, but it is evident upon inspection of Mr. Wetzel's handiwork. The price quoted by DHI was significantly less expensive than the quotes I received from other companies, while as far as I could tell, the materials were of equal or superior quality. And the installation appears to be perfect, although I am by no means familiar with the intricacies of soffit work. But it looks great and one month later, I have no cause for complaint.

I thought the entire process went pretty great. As a first-time homeowner living in my now-35 year old house for the past 10 years, realizing it was time to start thinking about a new roof was not a happy thought. I solicited input from friends and co-workers, checked Angie's List and Better Business Bureau ratings, and requested estimates from the 3 most promising-sounding companies. The price estimates I received were all fairly similar, but DHI's was slightly better and included higher-quality materials. I spoke with Mr. Duffield at length on two different occasions before going to the office to sign a contract. During both phone calls he was very patient, very informative, and never left me feeling like my questions or concerns were unimportant or an inconvenience to him. When we finally sat down together, he presented a contract that reflected the exact options I had selected from his quote, and the price was exactly as what had been quoted a month earlier. His payment policy is to get 1/3 when the contract is signed, 1/3 when the shingles are delivered, and the final 1/3 after the job has been completed. I had checked the Alachua County clerk of court website early on and saw that he had filed hundreds of Notices of Commencement in recent years and that, in fact, I knew even more people than I had originally realized who had had their roofs replaced by Mr. Duffield's company, so after touching base with a few of them, I was not at all concerned about giving him a check for $3k+ and then needing over a month to decide on what color shingles I wanted. Mr. Duffield was very helpful in that respect as well, giving me sample books, addresses of actual houses where the shingles of interest to me were used, and ultimately suggesting I go to the nearby supply warehouse to request samples of the actual shingles I was trying to decide between. That ended up doing the trick - as soon as I saw the different shingles next to my house and in the context of the rest of my neighborhood, the choice was finally obvious. Once I had decided on the shingles, the job was scheduled for a week or two later, weather permitting, and it was completed in the 3-4 days estimated. I was relieved to learn I needed only 1 piece of plywood replaced (the re-roofing price includes up to 3 pieces; more than that results in additional charges for materials and labor, and I've heard horror stories from friends and neighbors who ended up needing a lot more wood replaced than originally anticipated, which drove up the price). The crew was friendly and answered the questions I posed as I was leaving for work each morning. They were very good about covering the bushes every morning and leaving the worksite clean every evening. The office staff was very helpful and friendly as well. The roof looks beautiful, and I am very pleased with the job. In fact, I hired DHI to replace my soffits after the roof was finished, and the subcontractor who was sent did a beautiful job with that, too. All in all, I can honestly say I am thankful for the friendly, positive, and educational experience and that I don't think there's a better value for the money out there.

The owner of the company arrived to do the estimate on time. Work was completed in 2 weeks. Never asked for a deposit or signed contract. Very trustworthy and work was just as expected.

It went well. The old screens over vents to the attic were worn out and critters were living in the attic. Duffield responded quickly to my initial query, gave a clear, quick and detailed estimate. I got estimates for other work on the roof, but could only afford to do this right now. They did replaced the soffits in one day and cleaned up after themselves. I plan to hire him for the rest of the roofing work later this summer. They were punctual and polite.

They were on time, and did the whole job in one day! The weather was cooperating, indeed. They did a good job and left the premises clean.

Our choice of contractors was driven by price, observation of work done for a neighbor, and the neighbor's expression of satisfaction. Literally everything was handled punctually, professionally, and without conflict. They worked with us on scheduling and were attentive to all concerns and questions. They worked with the homeowners association for approvals needed. The roof looks very nice. We could not have asked for a better experience.

My husband and I decided to go with DHI because of their price. We got estimates from 3 companies, and their estimate was in the middle of all of them.
We were not happy with how long it took before they began work on our roof. We were told it would happen one week, but no one came out. My husband called and spoke to Mr. Duffield who said they would be out the week after that. This went on for about 3 weeks until finally DHI came.
Another thing that happened was the dumpster that was dropped off left two gouges in our asphalt driveway. We called Mr. Duffield and he had someone come out and fix it for us a few weeks later, free of charge.
The roof looks great and we think they did a good job. It did not take very long to do it, either. We just wish that it hadn't taken as long for them to come out, or if Mr. Duffield knew it was going to take that long that he should have called us each week to let us know our roof wasn't going to be replaced that week.

He met the estimate with no surprises or changes. His on site supervisor was polite and their crew did not interfere with ongoing business at my commercial building. I highly recommend Bill and his team.

We had a tree come through our porch roof and so the porch was not useable and we had a very difficult situation in which the porch just could not be repaired because it had been dealt at a time when the codes were different. So they basically had to rebuild the porch except the deck of the porch. They had to deal with the codes enforcement and the insurance company to be able to get approval for the entire porch to be replaced so that it would be up to the code. Just replacing the roof was not allowed by the city because the porch did not comply with the code but that meant the insurance company had to pay for the entire porch replacement, which they did not want to do. Duffield dealt with all of that and they were so professional about it. It was a situation where we had called other roofers and when they would realize what the situation was, they would not answer our phone calls because they felt like they were not going to get paid for their work. Duffield Home Improvements did a really beautiful job on the porch and their price was extremely fair. They were the only people who would even talk to us and they stuck with it over a period of months dealing with the insurance company and codes.
