"I just moved in to a home that had a kitchen sliding glass door that is very heavy and nearly impossible to open. I found Nick here on Angie's List. Nick was very courteous and professional when I initially contacted him for a quote. He came to the house on time and went right to work explaining the root causes of our sliding door not opening properly. He then explained how he was going to remedy the problem by replacing the rollers. I then left him alone to do his work. I checked back a few times to see if he needed anything and I couldn't help but notice how clean and neat he maintained the work area of our house. When he was finished he asked me to check his work and to open and close the door. I was absolutely amazed to be able to now open and close the door with my pinkie finger. The door opened as though it were gliding on soft butter. I had previously mentioned to Nick that taking the garbage out through that door was always a major ordeal. Needless to say, Nick had a big smile on his face when he saw how happy I was with the job he did. My wife came home a little while later and was very happy to be able to go out that door without calling me to open it for her. I really appreciated his work ethic and plan on having him come again to repair the other four sliding glass doors throughout the house. Thank you, Nick! You did an excellent job! Folks, if you need sliding glass door repairs, this is your man. Call him. Thank you, Angie's List, for being there!

"Mr. Ferrell first connected his computer to my computer via internet and worked for quite a few hours trying to determine what exactly was wrong. The next day he continued working from his computer for several hours. He determined he would have to have my desktop tower to complete the repair. He and my son met in Huntsville to exchange the tower. He then cleaned up a lot of what was wrong and reloaded Windows 10. He deleted the D: drive which had way too much memory allotted to it. The tower was returned and I plugged it all back together and it is working better than it did when I first purchased it. I would use him again and I recommend him highly to anyone needing computer updating and/or repair. His work is warrantied and he is very personable, knowledgeable, and helpful."

Window Door Contractors questions, answered by experts

Typically every 10-15 years or whenever they show signs of wear and tear.

While sometimes used interchangeably, screen doors and storm doors have key differences. Screen doors are simple structures, typically composed of just a frame and a screen, designed to keep out bugs while allowing air circulation. In contrast, storm doors are heavier and more complex, built to protect your home's main entry door from weather and intruders. They usually feature an aluminum frame with interchangeable tempered glass and screen panels, allowing you to switch between ventilation and insulation. A storm door offers more protection and versatility but generally costs more than a basic screen door.

Yes, you can replace the screen without removing the door in most cases depending on the frame holding the screen. Doors with removable spline and screen frames make it a snap to replace the mesh while the door remains in place. The best part is that it’s a simple DIY project requiring a few tools in addition to the screen material.

The average cost to repair a window is about $400, with prices typically ranging from $175 to $1,500. The final cost is influenced by several factors, including:

  • Number of Panes: Single-pane repairs average around $200, double-pane repairs range from $200 to $400, and triple-pane repairs can cost $600 to $1,100.

  • Type of Repair: Minor fixes for a track, seal, or sash are more affordable than repairs for broken glass or window frames, which are typically the most expensive.

  • Window Details: The size, type, and material of the window affect the price.

  • Accessibility: Windows on upper floors or in hard-to-reach locations may increase labor costs.

  • Other Factors: The extent of the damage, local labor rates, and the need for emergency service will also impact the total cost.

For comparison, a full window replacement can range from $175 to $1,800 or more for high-end materials or large windows like bay or bow windows.

On average, it cost $2,900 to rescreen a patio, porch, or sunroom, with homeowners paying anywhere from $800 to $5,200. The cost to rescreen a porch, patio, or sunroom enclosure depends on the size of the enclosure, the extent of the damage, and the materials used to replace existing screens.
