"WOW!!! Our house is now back to being beautiful. All wood cedar siding with wood porches front and back in desperate need of resurfacing and sealing. Jose thoroughly cleaned it, looked so good. Then he and his crew stained and sealed ALL surfaces. It's so beautiful now, went from good after cleaning to GREAT!!! Jose is great to work with from start to finish. I feel so Blessed to have met up with Jose (DMR Colorvisions Pro). If you need the type of services he offers you need to hire him. Polite, professional, excellent work and very reasonable pricing. You won't be disappointed. Thank You Jose!! May God Bless You!!! :)"

"Benrahou Painting did a great job with the painting and door repair. Mustapha was on time and very nice to work with. He helped pick out the shades and finishes of paint to use for both the inside and outside of the house. He repaired the door before painting it so that I didn’t need to replace the doors. I have worked with many contractors in the past for other projects and he was much easier to work with and more reliable. I will absolutely hire him again for future projects."

"Painting outside of beachside house. Bryan was prompt with competitive bid. He and his crew are customer focused, very respectful and maintain a clean working area. He focused on areas that needed attention of chalking, stains, removal of mud daubers and sealing cracks. He understood the quality we wanted. He was flexible as we worked through changes of the project. He completed within the agreed timeframe. The completed project looks great. We are very satisfied and will on Advanced Painting for future projects."

"My experience with Hughie Dean’s was awesome from the initial meet and quote to the beautifully finished job. Daniel took his time, answered my questions, and provided a quote within 24 hours. The quote was very fair and I accepted immediately! I had just bought this home and the entire house needed to be painted before we moved in. The team showed up at 7:30 am with great attitudes and ready to work. I had to leave town unexpectedly and came back to a beautifully painted home. Daniel has a team of honest and professional staff that provide quality work. If you’re looking for an amazing company you’ve found them! You’re welcome :) you won’t be disappointed !! Thank you again for everything, we are settled in and couldn’t be happier."

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

Staining pressure-treated wood is a recommended practice. While inherently resilient, it's not impervious to moisture and UV exposure. Staining treated wood is feasible and recommended for enhanced protection and longevity. Applying stain and sealant safeguards against degradation, prolonging its life span. These measures shield the wood from environmental threats while augmenting its aesthetic appeal, ensuring your investment endures the test of time.

Unless you’re using a 2-in-1 formula or painting over an existing coat of paint, it pays to apply a coat of primer ahead of your new paint. Decks see a lot of footfall and exposure to extreme and sudden temperature changes and moisture levels. The primer promotes better paint adhesion, moisture repellency, and a smoother finish, which means you’ll often need fewer coats of paint.

Various kinds of substances and deck preservatives act as protective coatings for wood to prevent rot, which is caused by water getting into the wood and creating cracks and splits. Stains, paints, and sealants are the three best options to protect your wood, but there are also oils, varnishes, and waxes available. You’ll need to reapply sealant at least once per year, and you should inspect your wood deck regularly to look for signs of damage or general wear and tear.

Here's the deal with leaving used rags covered in oil-based stain lying around in a pile: Depending on the conditions, these rags can take just an hour or up to a few days to combust. The source of ignition is caused by trapped heat that can be compounded if the rags are near a heat source.

Opt for an interior wood stain that is rated for your type of wood. Consider your personal style preferences as well as the overall use of the room when choosing a color. Remember, the color you see at the store may look different on your actual floors once applied. This is why if you have the chance, it’s helpful to test a few options on a scrap piece of wood in the room first. Once you narrow it down, you can test a small patch on an inconspicuous area in the room to see it on the actual floors.
