"Carlos and his wife are a fantastic team! They worked with me to accommodate my busy schedule which was greatly appreciated. Carlos is a true craftsman with wood work and you couldn’t find better people than him and his wife. The final product was perfect! You will not be disappointed if you choose them for your project!"

"Rick changed my kitchen and it looks amazing! He and his team showed up on time and did the job refinishing my cabinets in 2 days. Rick and Chris custom made a coffee bar and shelves above it that I love! I would absolutely hire them again."

"Working with Julio was great. He came out gave us a rundown on how the work would be done took some measurements. Later on the same day he sent us a 3D rendering of our kitchen with the estimate of what the work would costs. We liked it and agreed to go ahead with the remodel. Julio was always on time, kept us updated on the progress of the cabinets and countertop. He was detailed with everything he was doing. Even installed the under cabinet lights for us. Overall very happy with the results and very happy with Julio. Would recommend to anyone who needs to improve their Kitchen."

Woodworking questions, answered by experts

The pro you need to hire to build your shed depends on the shed you purchase. A local handyman or general contractor can help build a prefab shed for you. However, if you’re looking for a custom shed, contacting a shed builder near you is the best option. Make sure you get quotes from 3 pros to decide on the best pro for your job.

No, you do not usually tip a carpenter for their work. However, if you’ve been very happy with the level of service and quality of work, a 10% to 20% tip would likely be accepted with thanks. If you’re not sure, it can help to discuss the carpenter’s policy or preference for tipping before beginning the project.

When building a house, it is customary to use 16d nails that measure 3 1/2 inches in length to construct the frame. These nails are crucial in providing the necessary support and stability for structural elements like joists and studs, which ensures a sturdy framework.

General contractors use subcontractors to complete specific parts of a construction project. For example, a general contractor might have construction experience but need a subcontractor to install plumbing lines in a new home.

Joists do distribute their load to beams, but they don’t sit on top of the beams. Instead, home builders nail or screw the joists directly to the beams such that the end of the joist butts up against the edge of the beam. Beams can sit on other beams for support, but you’ll never see a joist sitting on top of a beam or another joist.
