"I hired Steve to paint my front entryway and stairwell, and his team did a fantastic job. They worked quickly and efficiently, and the space now looks brand new. As a renter, I really appreciated that Steve stayed within my budget and didn’t try to overcharge or upsell me on anything I didn’t need. He was honest, professional, and easy to work with throughout the process. I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for quality painting work."

"I initially hired for exterior window trim repair but then ended up hiring for the remaining random projects I had around my home - installing baseboard, painting bedrooms, bathrooms, hallways and doors/casings/trim, misc trim and quarter round install, installing bathroom exhaust fan staircase light fixture and door thresholds. They did it all! The pricing was more than fair. Pat was there everyday and checked in with me during and after to make sure I was satisfied. I just rehired them to do my patio which is a chemical wash, concrete stain and paint for later this week. They are a pleasure to work with and I'm so happy I found them to finish up the projects of my 1+ year long home renovation. I would not hesitate to work with them again!"

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

It’s often best to spray on deck sealer. Sprayers can apply sealant more quickly and evenly than rolling while still enabling you to reach tight spaces. When using a sprayer, always use a low-pressure setting at a close distance to ensure an even application. Avoid using sprayers on windy days.

The number of coats you need to apply when whitewashing a surface depends on how opaque you want the final product to be. If you're going for a transparent, barely there look, a single coat or two may suffice. For fuller coverage, you'll want to use multiple coats. Another option is to use a less diluted paint to get a thicker coverage.

Yes, you can and should paint or stain pressure-treated wood, as this helps prevent the surface from cracking. However, it is crucial to wait for the wood to dry out completely from the chemical treatment process before applying a finish. If the wood is still wet, the paint will not adhere properly. The drying time can range from weeks to six months. To test if the wood is ready, drip some water onto a board. If the water is absorbed, the wood is dry enough for painting or staining. If the water beads up on the surface, it needs more time to dry. You can build with the wood while it's still wet, but you must wait for it to dry before painting.

Yes, it's a good idea to sand the wall with fine-grit sandpaper after spackling, especially if you plan on painting. You can do this by hand or using a sander, but the idea is to ensure the spackle is flush with the wall. Sanding will give your wall a smooth, uniform finish and help your paint and wallpaper stay put.

Whether to brush or roll stain on wood depends on the project and your preference. Brushing is ideal for smaller, intricate areas and offers more control over the application, ensuring thorough coverage and penetration into the wood's grain.

Conversely, rolling is efficient for more extensive, flat surfaces and can save time. However, it is not always the best fit for textured or uneven wood. Some projects may benefit from combining both methods, using a brush for detail work and a roller for broader areas. Ultimately, the choice between brushing and rolling depends on the specific requirements of your staining project.
