"Ana and Waldemiro certainly do have the Magic Touch. They did an amazing paint job of our 1,600 apartment in three days. Arrived on time and cleaned up after themselves each day. They paid attention to detail and we’re pleasant to work with. Their price was more than reasonable. Give them a call (908-400-1442) for your paint job, you’ll be happy you did."

"Sailfish painting is a class act! From meeting with Jose for the estimate for my kitchen cabinet painting, he was knowledgeable and made me feel like family. They worked within my schedule with the countertops and back splash being installed and jumped right in after. They were very neat and clean with taping off everything. Marlon and the crew showed up to work and work they did. They have some real hard workers that know what they are doing. Axel, man what I superstar this guy is. He was there himself the last few days and knocked it out of the park. He is a true asset to a great company already. Super respectful and mindful for sure. Highly would recommend Sailfish Painting. Def will use them again and only them!"

"Had three areas that needed drywall repairs and paint. Very professional, neat and courteous - very dependable. Very satisfied with quality of the repairs - cannot tell that there were holes in the wall."

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

Wood stains last anywhere from two to five years, depending on exposure to the elements, your local climate, the type of stain, and the surface it’s on. For instance, vertical surfaces last longer than horizontal surfaces. Some types of woods, like dense hardwoods, will require a recoat yearly, as they are too dense for the stain to absorb. In any event, apply a recoat every 2 to 4 years. As for storage, a can of unopened stain can last up to 5 years, though results may vary.

Staining a deck is typically less expensive upfront than painting. The cost to stain a deck professionally averages around $850, with most homeowners paying between $550 and $1,250, depending on the deck's size. A DIY staining project can cost less than $100. The cost to paint a deck ranges from $500 to $2,000. While the initial cost of staining is lower, it's important to consider long-term expenses. Paint can last up to 10 years, whereas stain needs to be reapplied every few years, which could lead to higher costs over time.

Wood stain does go bad, but it will last in the can for between three and six years, provided you use proper storage techniques. Storing wood stain in open containers or in extremely low or high temperatures will cause your wood stain to become unusable much more quickly. Water- and latex-based wood stains typically last for just two to four years, while oil-based wood stains can last for three to six years.

You can apply stain over peeling stain, but it’s not a good idea. Your old stain will get in the way of your new stain bonding to the wood, so you’re likely going to see the same issue again shortly after application. Your best option is to sand off the old stain and clean the surface thoroughly before applying new stain.

No, you don't need to stain Ipe decking, although you can if you want to change the color. You will, however, need to apply a UV coating if you don't want the natural color to fade. Speak to a deck staining specialist near you to discuss the best options if you want to stain your decking. And remember that you’ll need to seal your Ipe wood deck annually to protect it from scratches and Mother Nature.
