Small jobs welcome

"We had Liberty install a transfer switch about a month before Hurricane Sally. The switch worked perfectly and allowed us to plug our portable generator into the house. We had electricity while the generator was running and were able to run most every thing in the house including the A/C in the Florida room. Made life better. Highly recommend Liberty electric."

"The evaporator coil was leaking water all in the unsealed return air box area, left that way by the original installation company. I decided to call Selectricity Cooling and Heating. Josh came over and evaluated the problem and made recommendations, all of which I agreed with. He completed all the work and answered all my questions. Then he cleaned up the area, and he made sure everything was working properly. I am totally confident in Josh's work, and I appreciate his honesty, hard work and professionalism. My AC is cooling great now, and I will definitely be calling Selectricity in the future, and requesting Josh for yearly the AC check up. I highly recommend Selectricity Cooling & Heating. I'm so glad that I called them. They really exceeded my expectations. Thank you Josh, and thank you Jan in the office."

Generator Install questions, answered by experts

It’s usually better to repair your generator if it isn’t working properly, as it will typically be much more affordable and should yield similar results. Generator repairs cost around $300 on average, while installing a new whole-house generator costs around $5,000 on average. The only exception is if you know your generator is reaching the end of its useful life, usually between 30 and 40 years. If you have an older generator, you could face multiple repairs in the coming years, which might mean that a full replacement will be more cost-effective over time.

The amount of time a standby generator can run continuously is around 3,000 hours on average. However, standby generators can generally run indefinitely as long as they have a continuous fuel supply. Generators hooked up to a home’s natural gas supply are the best option for extended usage, as these won’t rely on a finite fuel supply based on how much you have in storage. Generators running on liquid propane or diesel won’t last as long, as these require fuel storage and regular refueling to stay running.

Yes, in some locations, it is required by the National Electric Code (NEC) to have a transfer switch installed for electrical emergencies. In addition to following electrical code, generator transfer switches ensure your home is fully protected during a power outage. By switching the power from the main breaker to the generator breaker, you can seamlessly operate your HVAC, lights, appliances, devices, and more during an emergency.

While standby generators provide essential backup power, they can fail when you need them most due to lack of maintenance, fuel supply issues, dead batteries, electrical problems, or improper installation. To avoid costly failures, professional installation and regular maintenance are crucial. Licensed technicians ensure safety, uphold warranty requirements, comply with regulations, and provide expert servicing.

Energy output depends on turbine size, average wind speed at your site, and system efficiency. A 5 kW turbine in a good wind location can generate 8,000 to 12,000 kilowatt-hours per year, which may cover a large portion of an average home’s needs. Accurate output estimates require a professional wind assessment and a review of your household’s energy usage patterns.
