"They did what they said they were gonna do! They showed up on time, moved with my changes, and they did a great job. They went and cleaned up a mess from a previous contractor and I was really pleased. Everything worked real well."

"The two guys were very nice and professional. They did the exact areas I asked and even went beyond! The results were amazing! The house looked refreshed and bright. The front porch that I thought I needed to paint came perfectly clean and no paint needed now! They even cleaned the landscape bricks for me around the shrubs. I highly recommend this company!"

"Very well. We had a number of projects that we needed done, both interior and exterior. Joe arrived on time on the day we scheduled to go over what was needed and on the days he was working at our home. He did repairs on fences including painting, replaced a deadbolt lock, did interior and exterior painting and some repair work on ceilings including repainting. He also installed exterior floodlights on existing electrical boxes, rebuilt and reinstalled a storm-damaged wood shutter and worked on several interior doors that were not working satisfactorily. Joe works steadily and efficiently getting more done each day than I would have ever thought possible. He cleaned up all areas that he worked in and removed all debris from the premises. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND Joe for “handyman” jobs. He seems willing to tackle most anything but told me up front that he doesn’t do plumbing."

"We planned to be away when the work was done so security was important. Joe is an on the job owner and happily everything was fine when we got back. Joe was very aggressive in getting the job. Surprisingly not everyone was. He began the work when he said he would and it was finished before we returned. He used quality paint and each room received a double coat. My house is not the Taj Mahal so we are talking about a basic paint job. What I can say is all wall imperfections were repaired professionally before painting; there are no streaks, smears or sheen; there was no damage to rugs or furniture and the paint lines(I.e., where walls meet ceilings )were pretty close to perfect. I recommend the company and based on the quality of work and the good price I can only assume Joe prefers quick nickels to slow dollars.

"After we called him, Ken Samuels came out to meet us when he told us he would. He immediately identified the problem and within 24 hours, fixed the problem. Mr. Samuels is passionate about his work. He is a very good roofer who really seems to care."

Deck Repair questions, answered by experts

PVC decking might be long-lasting, but this synthetic material lacks the natural aesthetic or sustainability of wood decking. If you want to match your decking to your new garden furniture or just freshen up the faded surface, it’s not usually possible to paint PVC decking. When comparing PVC to composite decking, PVC is pricier and more prone to warping in hot regions.

Pressure-treated lumber is one of the most affordable types of decking upfront. This material is widely available, so you can usually find pressure-treated lumber at almost any local home improvement store you visit. Keep in mind that wood requires a lot of upkeep with repainting and restaining, so any kind of wood may be more expensive in the long run than something like PVC decking.

For the best results, stay off of your deck for at least 48 hours after sealing it. Giving the sealant at least two full days to cure ensures it can fully penetrate the wood, giving you the most protection from sun and weather damage later on. Walking on the deck too soon can prevent it from properly curing and cause your deck to weather prematurely.

The best way to sand a deck is by cleaning it, sanding the boards and stairs with 60- or 80-grit sandpaper, and sanding the railings and posts with 80-grit sandpaper. You should sand in the direction of the wood grain to avoid damaging the timber. When sanding your deck, use medium pressure and aim for an even sand. Pressing too hard with a sander can damage decks, as most are softwoods.

The best direction for a gate to swing depends on its location and purpose, but swinging inward is the general rule. An inward swing is often considered safer, prevents the gate from opening into public spaces like a sidewalk, and may be required by local building codes.

There are exceptions and specific considerations. If your property is on a slope, an inward swing might not be possible. For a deck gate, it's safest to have it swing away from any steps. In a backyard, the direction can be a matter of preference, though an inward swing can be helpful when carrying heavy items like a wheelbarrow into a garden.

Regardless of direction, ensure the gate can open fully without hitting any objects or blocking spaces. While an inward swing is standard, a gate that can swing both in and out offers the most flexibility if your setup allows for it.
