"Orchids and Praises to Jon from Mike the Plumber, Inc. Jon is punctual, very knowledgeable, highly skilled, totally neat in appearance and in work habits, a hard worker, and very conscientious! He is quite the find! I had purchased (from Home Depot) what I had believed was a replacement for my kitchen faucet with all of the necessary parts. However, when I opened the box Jon pointed out that the box was sold to me without major parts for the faucet! There was no quality control from the Home Depot factory! Neither one of us had ever come across such a thing as missing parts! Therefore Jon could not proceed with the installation. However, Nicole, the owner, was very kind and took the time to find out what the model number was for my old faucet so that she would be able to look for a reasonable facsimile as a replacement. She also took information re: the handheld shower replacement. Since I was not sure which handheld to purchase Nicole was kind enough to look for a replacement for the that as well. As promised Nicole called me when she had all of the necessary information. She took the time to describe to me what she found then itemized the prices and total cost. My choice was to pick either the cheaper (that I did not like) or the more expensive (that suited my taste!) The cost of labor was itemized and included as well. I truly appreciated this since there would be no unpleasant surprises when the final bill would be presented. When Jon returned he brought the complete kitchen faucet. I appreciate the fact that he thoroughly checked beneath the sink once again to be absolutely sure that there were no leaks. (There were none!) It was necessary to purchase certain extra parts as well ~~~which was not a big deal. He went to work diligently, conscientiously, and so neatly. I am so happy to say that the faucet that Nicole selected (and darling Jon had installed) far surpassed the quality of the one from Home Depot! (no comparison at all! Yes, the new one was more expensive, however, I chose it according to my taste), plus; I am glad that Home Depot's was incomplete and could not be used!!) In no time at all Jon installed the entire kitchen faucet; it's looking gorgeous and working fabulous!!! Jon checked it out with me. I cannot begin to express how happy I am! Jon is dynamite! He answered all of my questions and did not let me feel as though my questions were silly! Jon thoroughly re-checks over everything he does. Even though his work is brilliant he conscientiously checks it again anyway. To see Jon in action you know that he is a very hard worker. In this day and age to find a truly skilled plumber who works hard, is brilliant at what he does, and is so conscientious as well ~~~ All I can say is that Jon is heaven - sent! He took care and worked as though he were working in his own home. Most sincerely, when you need a plumber I highly, highly, highly recommend Jon from Mike the Plumber. His work is awesome, plus, there is no mess left behind!! Nicole, the owner, and Jacqueline, the office manager provide excellent, excellent customer care. I appreciate the integrity of this company. They charge exactly what they say, and I find the cost to be quite reasonable. With Jon as an awesome plumber, plus Nicole and Jacqueline as awesome customer care providers, we, the consumers are truly winners! Once again, orchids to Jon, Nicole, and Jacqueline!"

"I used to get water in my basement every time it rained. I had a sump pump installed and I still got water through the cracks. Seal pro Max was the perfect solution for me for fraction of the cost of other solutions. With all the snow and rain we’ve had this year I didn’t get a drop of water in my basement. The guys were very knowledgeable and professional and were able to finish the job in one day. I wish I knew about this years ago."

"I had a crawl space encapsulation done three years ago. The work was professionally done by competent friendly patient professionals willing to answer any and all questions about their work. Most recently I had tech Bradley Innocent conduct the annual inspection of the work, replace the filter in the dehumidifier and survey the property for any potential problems. This young man was professional, efficient, and explained what he was there to do and why. Companies need more competent professionals like him."

Drain Pipe Installation questions, answered by experts

To get rid of a sewer smell in your crawl space, you’ll have to find the source of the problem. If it has to do with your sewer lines, then repairing the line will help. You may need to make other repairs, like fixing your sump pump or encapsulating your crawl space to reduce moisture. After you make the repair, depending on the issue, you may still need to clean out your crawl space to get rid of the stink.

No. You should dispose of all oil-based finishing products through a local hazardous waste program. Not only can oil-based finishes be hazardous for the environment if disposed of in the sink, but they can cause clogs in your pipes and stop up your drains. Most municipal garbage or waste disposal companies have a specific location or pick-up schedule for hazardous materials, so that’s your best bet to get rid of excess finishing products.

In some cases, operating a snake can damage your drain and pipes. This depends on the overall condition of your pipes and how gently you operate the auger. For instance, older galvanized pipes covered in zinc are susceptible to scratches when using a drain snake. Additionally, it’s common for newbies to apply too much force when extending the snake, leading to scratches and related damage. You can also crack the porcelain with an electric auger if you’re snaking a toilet drain. If you’re using a manual snake or auger, the risk is minimal.

Unlike regular cleanings, snaking your sewer line should be done as needed. There’s no reason to snake your sewer line if you don’t have any noticeable issues, like slow drainage or plugged drains. You can add it to your regular sewer cleaning checklist as a prevention method (on the same 18- to 22-month schedule), but it’s not always necessary.

A small amount of diluted bleach is okay to pour down a garbage disposal. As part of your weekly garbage disposal maintenance, use 1 teaspoon of bleach with your concoction of ice cubes and lemon peels. Turn on the disposal and run the water until the blades chop up the ice cubes.

Any more bleach in your disposal can harden oils and greases in your drain, which can cause problems. Always wear gloves when working with bleach, and know that you really don’t need bleach at all—vinegar, baking soda, salt, and ice should do the trick.
