Customers say: Terrific value

"Leo and crew did a great job taking care of the house trim. They cleaned, prepared and painted the house trim. More importantly, they left the area spotless after the finished painting. Very happy with the results."

"Ben did a wonderful job and was very professional; friendly; on time…I would recommend him VERY HIGHLY!!! He has painted my entire home on the outside and he has stained my front and side decking; stairs and has also shared his thoughts to help me reach the “look” I ideally wanted!!! I will be asking him to paint every area inside my house as well, as it could use a good change and upkeep. He knows how to fix issues like correcting walls that need patch working to “match” the rest and trim work and caulking, if necessary due to water damage/exposure/pet scratching damage, etc. And after that work is done…my ceiling may also be in need of a fresh coat!!"

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

A wood deck requires annual cleaning and regular inspections for loose or broken boards, nails, and screws. It should be refinished by applying a stain or sealer every two to three years to protect the wood from water damage, rot, mildew, and sun fading. The exact frequency can depend on the climate and the deck's exposure to sun and moisture. If your deck is painted, it will need repainting approximately every 10 years. Signs that your deck needs refinishing include faded, splintering, or warping boards.

Wood stain is not flammable after it dries. The solvent in wood stain is what causes the liquid form to be highly flammable, but the stain drying process involves the solvents dissolving, which leaves behind a non-flammable product on your wood project. Wood stain is, however, flammable before you apply it, so you should always store partially full cans and used wood stain rags away from sources of heat and open flames.

It’s necessary for paint to completely dry before exposure to rain, and that drying time varies by the type of paint used. Oil-based paint takes 6 to 8 hours to dry on average, meaning that’s the minimum time needed between the last brush stroke and the first raindrop. Latex paint dries faster at around 1 hour, and acrylic paint is even quicker, usually drying in about 30 minutes. If rain is in the forecast, check the paint manufacturer's details before laying on a new coat.

The best paint for an older deck depends on the material and whether or not your deck already has a coat of paint. Generally, if your deck already has paint on it, you should choose the same type of paint when repainting the deck. For example, if an old deck has oil-based paint on it, stick with oil; if your deck has water-based paint, choose water-based paint.

Whitewashing isn’t permanent, but it can last for a long, long time. When you apply it correctly or have a seasoned pro whitewash your brick, whitewashing can last for 20 to 30 years or longer. Whitewash is very durable and typically requires little maintenance, making it a great project for most DIYers.
