"The One Stop Interiors crew did an excellent job with our vertical blinds, were very timely and provided the service at a reasonable price. The initial representative had excellent choices and samples of the vertical blinds as well as other choices of materials. The Representative quickly measured the 18 window and doors and provide us with a written quote. The blinds were produced in about 2 weeks and installed the right away. There was some mino coordination confusion regarding the labeling of the blinds as to which blind went in which window. The issue was resolve quickly and a blind that did not fit was corrected in a couple of days. The crew was very intent on making us pleased with the finish product. They did a great job and the blinds look and work great."

"Ken the Owner is there from start to finish on the job. He does what he says and says what he does. High quality materials, great installation. He can custom make or recreate any vision you have for your dream closet. Mine is better than I could of imagined. He knows his stuff and since everything is custom made will fit even the most difficult closet like mine since the walls were not square. In a time when most contractors over-promise and under-deliver this is one job that I have soooo happy with!"

"The guy came in on time, neatly dress and very cortial. He measured and gave me a few ideas of the best way to maximize the space because I have a small and odd shape closet. He came back, setup the closet and few hours later, I have a beautiful organized closet and with space for all my shoes and purses."

Closets questions, answered by experts

How many days it takes to remodel a closet will also depend on the scale of the project. Small changes like installing a prefab kit will eat up an afternoon and no more, while a total renovation could require several days to a week. If you’re planning for the latter, plan to secure other sleeping arrangements while construction is ongoing.

Walk-in closets are always the biggest and can easily be more than 100 square feet. Primary bedroom closets, even if not walk-ins, are the second largest category in most homes and sit between 30 and 80 square feet. Linen closets, utility closets, and built-in closets are smaller and, depending on their usage, tend to be between 10 and 50 square feet.

The average closet remodel cost ranges between $500 and $2,500. However, the cost can vary greatly depending on the project scope. Homeowners can expect to pay $10 to $25 per square foot on a closet remodeling project.

You can design your own closet, but it’s usually better to hire a professional to do the work for you. Not only will you get years of design experience to guide you toward the right layout and material choices, but you’ll also only pay slightly more hiring a professional than you would creating your own plans and hiring a carpenter. A high-quality closet designer can provide insight into how to lay out your closet, and they may be able to find you a good deal on the carpentry or complete the work using an affordable, in-house team.

On average, building a custom or built-in closet costs around $2,100. However, the total price can range from as little as $500 for a simple DIY project to $6,000 or more for a large, high-end custom closet. Most projects typically fall between $1,500 and $5,000.

The final cost depends on several factors, including the closet's size, type, materials, and features. Here is a general cost breakdown by closet type:

  • Reach-in closet: $500 to $1,500

  • Walk-in closet: $750 to $5,000

  • Wardrobe: $2,000 to $6,000 or more

Choosing a prefabricated closet system is generally less expensive than a fully custom build. The scope of design and construction services will also significantly impact the price.
