"After a 4 pt. inspection, a couple of issues needed to be fixed, and there were a couple of other things that needed attention. Cosmo completed the small repairs with knowledge and was professionalism. Cosmo will be my "go to" electrician for other projects on my list!"

"After a lightning strike they came out right away, same day estimate (actually 2 options for the work). They not only completed the work quickly but when we found out the HVAC company had failed to mention another change was needed they stays late hours to ensure this 73 year old lady had air conditioning! Definitely would recommend and will use them again if I need electrical work."

"This company, Mr Electric was awesome...!!! they came and gave us a great estimate, and started the job immediately, no waiting at all...! The technicians Brett and Kevin were both very nice and professional. Installed the wiring, switches and light fixture in about 3 1/2 hours...Beautiful job. They cleaned up all the messes, we paid them and wham....! That was it, piece of cake if you have a good company with good employees! 5-Plus ***** Stars...! What a contrast from Mr Sparky...!"

"Our house was built partially in 1960 and the other part in 1980, and the new roof was built over the original roof. It wasn’t electricians nightmare, but Selectricity was fabulous. The workers were knowledgeable, hardworking, and beyond polite. The electricians worked tirelessly in the hot attic, and had to spend extra days at the house to complete the work. We couldn’t be happier with the results. The estimator and office staff were very customer oriented and followed through with support and flexibility. The price was better than we could ever have imagined! We would be making a mistake if we went to anyone else ever. You cannot go wrong by using Selectricity; they are the best!"

Ceiling Fans questions, answered by experts

Generally, a ceiling fan should be mounted at least seven feet from the floor in the center of your room with a wall clearance of around 18 inches. If your ceiling is more than eight feet high, it’s recommended by experts that the ceiling fan be mounted around eight to nine feet from the ground. This helps ensure a better quality of circulated airflow.

When choosing a mounting bracket, you have the option between flush mounts and downrod mounts. Flush mounts are the better option for low ceilings as they feature a lower profile. Downrod mounts are the optimal choice for rooms with high ceilings as they offer a pole that adjusts the height of the fan.

Keeping dust off fans can keep them working optimally and help keep dust mites or bacteria from building up. Dust fans weekly with a duster, microfiber cloth, old pillowcase, or vacuum attachment. You can also try spraying a clean fan with a store-bought dust-repellent product or making a DIY dust-repellent with water and a small amount of liquid fabric softener mixed in.

Coffered ceilings often come with additional embellishments and accessories, including tin panels, medallions, trim, molding, recessed lights, and finials. Whether you’re looking for a simple grid pattern or want an elaborate, decorative ceiling with all the bells and whistles, there are plenty of options to choose from.

There are many types of ceiling fans available, each designed for different spaces and needs. Standard ceiling fans are the most common type and work well in most rooms. Low-profile ceiling fans are better suited for rooms with low ceilings. Smart ceiling fans can be controlled with a smartphone or voice commands. For larger spaces with ceilings between 10 and 25 feet high, large ceiling fans are ideal. Dual-motor fans have two motors to produce more airflow in multiple directions. You can also find energy-efficient or Energy-Star models that can be up to 60% more efficient, as well as fans with built-in lights or retractable blades.
