"My deck had seen better days. After listened to what I was wishing to do, Greg promptly provided a solution and soon started work. His crew removed the old deck and gave me a safe and great looking product, all within 3 days. I’m very pleased. Now after a few months, it still looks great. Thanks Greg!"

"My concrete tile roof was looking cruddy and not so red anymore when I asked SMPW to clean it. This company had done so once before, with excellent results, so I had confidence that they would repeat the performance. I was not disappointed. Rico was the technician assigned to the job, and he took all necessary steps to get it done right. Not only was the roof beautifully red again, but he washed all windows and even cleaned the outside of the house, A/C units and a small deck to our sunroom. The entire house looked new again."

"

They did a very nice job. The owner was the person I largely dealt with. They were drastically cheaper than Pella was. I remembered them three or four years later without finding the paperwork and I am a crabby person. My recollection was that they called to confirm we had an appointment and told me they were on the way. They were easy to work with if you are a working person. I have never had a repair on the things they put up in all this time. I have another window I want them to do.

"This is a review for multiple jobs. We have been using the services of Dynamic Colors for years and want to highly recommend them for any painting/decorating job, indoors and outdoors. At single family house, they have worked with all kinds of surfaces, including plaster and drywall of course, and also also cedar siding, deck and pergola refinishing, staining, and jobs that require some woodwork replacement/fixes, etc. They have also readied the walls in a three-bedroom condo for sale. Top-notch professional work, big jobs and small. Great promptness, responsiveness and cleanup."

Deck Repair questions, answered by experts

Footings for ground-level decks need to be at least 12 inches deep, and some areas require them to be even deeper. A standard range for deck footings is anywhere from 12 to 48 inches. The minimum footing depth is determined by an area’s frost line and soil conditions. If you’re unsure how deep to install deck footings, check local building codes to find the minimum footing depth in your area.

Yes, transforming a deck into a sunroom is an absolute possibility. Building a sunroom involves framing in the deck area with walls, adding windows, and affixing a roof. This project is not an easy task, but it does provide a stylish addition to your house. Not all deck designs support this type of renovation project, so consult a professional deck builder before beginning.

There are more pros than cons when staining a deck. Deck stain is more affordable than paint, it protects the wood and allows the natural textures to shine through, and it can revive the appearance of your home. However, deck stain also requires prep work (sometimes days or more), carries more upkeep than a painted deck, and can fade over time if not cared for.

It is definitely worth sanding a deck to ensure the wood absorbs new stain. Sanding a deck removes the outer layers of aging wood, allowing the stain to penetrate. It also gives a fresh look to the entire surface as part of the deck refinishing process. Without sanding, your stain or sealant is less likely to absorb into the wood. While sanding a deck is a time-intensive project, the rewards are noticeable and long-lasting.

You do not have to dig footers for a deck as long as it meets local code and holds up to weather in your area. If you live somewhere that experiences high winds and earthquakes, you may need to dig for your deck posts. Deck blocks, post anchors with base plates, and helical pile systems are the three no-dig deck post options you can choose from if local code permits.
