"Ed and his wife, Amy, were professional and excellent throughout the 5 day process of painting my condo. Their work displays their Christian integrity. Amy performed exquisite trim work without the use of extensive preparation aids and Ed completed the remainder of the work. Although my condo is small, it involved incredibly, detailed work. Ed took my louvered closet doors outside and spray painted them with two coats of paint. All doors received primer and then the finish coat of paint. All work was performed with care for my belongings and no paint was splattered. They accommodated my requests for paint color changes and touch-ups, requested during the middle of the job, very graciously. Personally, they were delightful with laughter and teasing and I enjoyed their company as though we were old friends. Ed stayed truthful to all his proposals, from the date of their starting my project to the end of the project and from his estimate of the costs to his invoice on the last day. All dates and costs were what he had proposed. I could not have been more pleased that I chose Ed and Amy Staib. I highly recommend them for your project."

"Premier painting was absolutely fantastic, and I would highly recommend them. The team that came out was superb and their work was almost immaculate. I am a stickler for detail and walked the house every day looking at what was done, and with very few exceptions the crew was catching their few spots missed themselves before I could even say anything. The house looked like new when they were finished. I was selling the house, and it looked so good that my realtor asked for their contact info to give to future clients for paint jobs. The price for the job was reasonable, though not the very cheapest (not the highest either). I was more worried about the quality of the job and reliability of them showing up on team and getting it done on time, which premier did."

"Dave was very professional. He arrived on time, did a good job, and cleaned up afterwards. Even though my job was more difficult than he imagined, and it took a few hours longer to complete, he did not change his original quote. I would highly recommend him for any of your wallpaper needs."

Wallpapering questions, answered by experts

Painting over wallpaper is an efficient way to cover it if it’s in decent shape. Before painting over wallpaper, make sure the surface is clean and smooth. You may have to remove minor problem areas, such as lifted seams or small peels, with a sheetrock knife or putty knife. Add a latex- or oil-based primer to keep moisture at bay before painting. You’ll likely need two coats of paint to cover the area.

The average cost to install or hang wallpaper is around $575 per room or project, with typical prices ranging from $200 to $1,500. Costs can be higher for custom or luxury products. Since project size varies, it's often helpful to estimate labor costs per square foot, which generally fall between $1 and $7, with an average of $4 per square foot. The total cost depends on several factors, including the quality and type of wallpaper, the size and type of the room, and whether old wallpaper must be removed first. Opting for less expensive materials like peel-and-stick wallpaper or choosing to do the installation yourself can lower the overall cost. For the most accurate estimate, it is best to have a professional inspect the space and provide a quote.

No, you don’t always have to remove old wallpaper before applying a new layer. However, you should pull off the existing wallpaper if it’s cracked, peeling, or in poor condition. We’d also recommend against putting wallpaper over textured or dark-colored wallpaper because the old layer may be visible through the new one. In addition, if you try to hang new wallpaper over vinyl-coated wallpaper, the adhesive might not stick properly.

It is less costly to paint than wallpaper when you only consider the upfront cost. Wallpaper costs $320 to $820 when applied by a pro, while paint only costs $200 to $700 per room. However, when comparing wallpaper versus paint, consider the long-term as well. Wallpaper can save you money over time since it has a much longer life span than paint.

Yes, many types of peel-and-stick wallpaper can be used in bathrooms, especially those made of vinyl or polyester. However, its success depends heavily on the level of moisture and ventilation. In bathrooms with good ventilation, such as those with fans, it can be a durable option. Peel-and-stick wallpaper may not adhere as well as traditional wallpaper in very humid conditions. For bathrooms that see a lot of moisture, like a kids' bathroom or a full bath with a steamy shower and poor ventilation, even high-quality peel-and-stick wallpaper is likely to peel over time.
