My name is Charlie Lopez. I am 39 years old and a Panama City native. I have worked with several contractors doing anything from pressure washing to tearing off and installing roofs. I am a fixer of things and problem solver by nature. My wife calls me the "safety inspector". lol. I enjoy being of service and I take pride in my work. And most importantly, I show up!

"Allen and Sons (f/k/a Two Feet In Lawn Care) has taken care of my yard for at least two (maybe three) years, and I have always been happy with their work! They are on-time and do an excellent job of mowing, wacking, and blowing! Their service is reasonably priced. They also stepping in temporarily when my daughter needed service.I am glad to have them, and I highly recommend them. ð"

"I received a very reasonable estimate and a few days later they came. Eric and Marion were friendly, organized and brought all the equipment they needed. They did precisely what I wanted done as well as offered advice. Basically, they went above and beyond and put everything back as it was and disposed of all the debris. I intend to have them back to do some additional improvements around my house. They do good work and I highly recommend them!"

Garbage Collection questions, answered by experts

You may be able to install a garbage disposal on your own, especially if you're handy or have some experience with plumbing. However, if you have any concerns or want to make absolutely sure that the connections are installed correctly, you may be better off hiring a local garbage disposal installer to do the job.

While the drain connection for a garbage disposal is nearly universal and fits standard sink drain holes of 3 1/2 to 4 inches, the size of the disposal unit itself is not. You must have enough space in the cabinet underneath your sink to accommodate the disposal's housing. A larger model may not fit in a compact cabinet or if the existing plumbing is arranged in an unusual way. Before buying a new garbage disposal, measure the available space under your sink. If you are replacing an old unit, it's often easiest to choose a new model of a similar size.

No, you do not need a garbage disposal to have a dishwasher. A dishwasher will work without one, and while it's rare to see a home with a dishwasher that doesn't have a disposal, it is possible. The two appliances pair well and are often installed together because a disposal simplifies meal cleanup.

However, your dishwasher should not be used as a replacement for a garbage disposal. Subjecting it to continuous food leftovers can lead to major clogs. If you choose not to install a garbage disposal, you should thoroughly rinse your plates or scrape excess food into the trash or a compost pile before loading them into the dishwasher to prevent plumbing issues.

Never put glass in the garbage disposal. It can damage your disposal or eject shards of glass out of the disposal and cause injury. If you get broken glass in your garbage disposal, turn it off and cut the power from the breaker, use a tool like pliers or tongs to remove the glass, and use a wet-dry vacuum to remove the remaining glass pieces. If you can’t access the disposal safely, call a garbage disposal repair pro.

Whether it's worth repairing your garbage disposal depends on its age and the specific problem. Generally, if the unit is eight years old or younger, repair is a good option. For minor issues like a bad seal or a simple jam, a repair can be inexpensive, sometimes under $10. However, if the motor is broken (a repair that can cost $150 or more) or the unit is getting old, it's often more cost-effective to replace the entire disposal.
