"We had several slow go drains in our home, they were promptly cleared. Owen provided an estimate prior to the work being performed and was very friendly and professional. Owen explained everything he had done in terms we easily understood. So glad we chose Next Plumbing."

"It went great! They responded to my email within 24 hours and scheduled an appointment within 3 business days on a day and time of my choosing. The Leak Specialist arrived promptly, was very pleasant and helpful. He quickly identified the problem and showed me photos of the damage. He described how the leak could be resolved, made recommendations for preventive measures. He had to go into the wall to identify the source of the leak and was very sensitive to potential damage, discussed options with me, etc. He also cleaned up the work area upon completion!
I would highly recommend this company to identify the source of water leaks! Very professional, very pleasant to deal with. I especially appreciated the brainstorming about remediation and options for making the necessary repairs.

Drain Cleaning questions, answered by experts

A small amount of diluted bleach is okay to pour down a garbage disposal. As part of your weekly garbage disposal maintenance, use 1 teaspoon of bleach with your concoction of ice cubes and lemon peels. Turn on the disposal and run the water until the blades chop up the ice cubes.

Any more bleach in your disposal can harden oils and greases in your drain, which can cause problems. Always wear gloves when working with bleach, and know that you really don’t need bleach at all—vinegar, baking soda, salt, and ice should do the trick.

As a general rule of thumb, it’s best to clean your linear drain every two to three months to prevent debris buildup. However, if you notice it draining slowly or an odor from your drainpipes, it’s best to clear the clogged drain and maintain it more often. If you let a clog go for too long, you may have to invest in the price of professional shower drain cleaning, which costs about $225.

Common causes include hair buildup, soap residue, food particles, and foreign objects. Older pipes can also contribute by facilitating buildup more easily.

Common drain issues include slow-running drains, whether in a sink or shower, clogged drains, a bad smell, and water backing up into a sink, shower, or bathtub. Causes range from hair, grease, roots, or toilet paper clogging the drainpipes to flooding outside the home, which prevents sewer lines from draining properly.

Yes, continuing to flush a clogged toilet is not likely to break up the clog. Instead, it will continue to put pressure on the clog while filling the bowl with more water, which can potentially cause the toilet to overflow—leading to an even bigger mess. Rather than repeatedly flushing, use a toilet plunger or plumber’s snake to dislodge the clog.
