Small jobs welcome

"The owner of D. R.’S Lawn Service came out and gave me the most reasonable estimate. He explained everything that he was going to do to my lawn. He couldn’t come out until 5/18/2021 which was fine with me. He took out all the dead grass and replaced it with new sod. They bagged all the old grass and then showed me the end product which was perfect. He told me if I had any problem call and he would take care of it. That is a 10 star review in my book. Jim Sharp"

"Paul was very responsive once I put in my request to Angi’s List. I received a text within a half hour and he was able to help me with my entire yard the very same day. He is very hardworking and reasonably priced. I highly recommend his services!"

Landscaping questions, answered by experts

In most cases, wait three to five days to repot or relocate a plant from a greenhouse or nursery. That way, your plant has time to recover from any shock during the move and adapt to the conditions in and around your home. Some hearty plants may not need as long, and delicate plants might need several weeks. You should ask the professional at your nursery for a recommended timeline. Consider asking about an initial watering schedule to help stimulate root growth and promote a healthy plant.

Consulting your local university extension, Audubon society, or municipal urban forestry program are all good ideas when choosing a tree to plant. You can also ask an arborist or a knowledgeable landscaping company for advice on good trees to plant.

A green home is one that focuses on conservation, with the goal often being net-zero carbon emissions and self-sustainability. It will often include some kind of self-generation equipment, like solar panels or a small wind turbine, high-efficiency electrical components and mechanicals, and high-quality insulation and air sealing to reduce the loss of conditioned air. Many green homes also include xeriscaping or rainwater collection to cut down on drainage and water consumption.

A window flower box should be deep enough that there’s room for a wide selection of plants and the required amount of soil and gravel. Standard flower boxes are 8 inches deep and 8 inches from front to back. Larger is better to increase the variety of plants in the box, but you could run into stability issues as it increases in weight.

Grass is the most popular and safest option for planting over a septic drain field, but you can also plant small flowering plants and other lightweight plants that don’t have woody or deep roots. Avoid trees and bushes within 10 feet of the field, as the woody roots can crack the perforated pipes. You should also avoid planting vegetable or fruit gardens over your drain field, as a leak from the pipes could contaminate the soil and put anyone who eats the produce at risk.
