"Steven created a masterpiece with my porcelain countertops and backsplash. I now know about "rolling the grain up the wall" and about "babysitting the lippage"! STEVEN was punctual, pro fessional, and persistent. Also, he was gently persuasive with his project vision. Steven's meticulous attention to detail is surpassed only by his unique DESIGN DELIVERY. GORGEOUS JOB ...THANKS STEVEN."

"Thal quoted our travertine floors for deep cleaning, honing and polishing. Thal is prompt to return calls/text, promptly came to quote my job and provided a written estimate that evening, and scheduled within the desired time frame. I found all my interactions with Thal to be professional and courteous. Today he finished the job and my floors are sparkling like new! I would hire Thal@CMP again."

"We are still in process so hard to judge final product. Our distance from project created some challenges but we ended up with an excellent product at an affordable price. Effort was made to finish product by deadline which was immensely helpful."

"Flooring in kitchen and dining room looks good except they cut around flooring strips on all 4 - 2 exterior & 2 interior doors. The areas around flooring strip's look unprofessional and unfinished. These areas are already coming up. I had to buy wider door strips to cover hacked up floor areas.
My biggest complaint is my new fridge lost it's grill at the bottom and no one bothered to replace it. Not the company or the contractors.
Yes,  the work there is sub- contracted. I do not like sub-contracted work because each party blames the other and problem is never solved.
They group that  installed flooring were loud and unprofessional. I would not recommend flooring install. I am disappointed in the lack response from American Flooring, Cabinets & Granite. We called and the company was going to have sub-contractors to contact me for repair & replacement of fridge grill.
I HAVE NOT HEARD FROM EITHER!

Stone Countertops questions, answered by experts

Overall, granite tends to cost more than marble. Prices for each material will fluctuate depending on the source of the stone, your location, shipping costs, and the thickness of the material. Labor to install marble or granite countertops typically ranges from $35 to $45 per hour. Granite and marble tile and slab costs compare as follows:

  • Marble tile: $7–$10

  • Granite tile: $5–$15

  • Marble slab: $25–$60

  • Granite slab: $50–$100

Quartzite is more expensive than granite, largely because of its rarity. Granite is naturally more common. A granite slab generally costs $40 to $60 per square foot (excluding super-rare types), while quartzite slabs cost anywhere from $50 to $150 per square foot.

With both materials, it’s usually more affordable to purchase stones that are readily available in your location. You may need to import other stones, which come at a higher cost.

If you have light renovation experience, you should be able to build your own countertop made from wood or laminate. These tend to be the most DIY-friendly materials, but you’ll need to be comfortable using a circular saw and taking precise measurements. When it comes to installation, leave anything that involves plumbing, electricity, or gas lines to the pros.

Rounded countertop edges, like bullnose or eased edges, are the least likely to chip. Their smooth, curved design helps distribute impact more evenly, unlike sharp corners, which often take the brunt of a hit. Also, unlike pointed edges, rounded edges won't snag on material like dishcloths or clothing.

Any surface, including a waterfall countertop, can last decades based on a few things. First is the chosen material. For instance, quartz and granite are more durable and long-lasting than marble or concrete. Proper care also plays a key role. Regular cleaning and sealing, if required, will help any counter resist stains and damage over time.
