"Donny at Kingdom Painting exemplifies what it means to be amazing. Not only did he and his crew do a fantastic job of fixing our crumbling stucco (you can't even tell there was a stucco repair!), but he was involved in the entire process from beginning to end. He spent the time and effort to thoroughly explain the entire process of fixing the stucco and painting the whole house, patiently answering any and all my questions with a smile and a great sense of humor. He also made sure to do his best to stay within my budget. The quality of the work is top notch, with a nice thick layer of top quality Sherman Williams paint on every surface. His team did not leave any mess or overspray, either. The "cherry on top" was getting the work done quickly, even with the upcoming Christmas holiday! Once I got HOA approval, they had the work scheduled and done within a week."

"We hired Mark to paint the interior of our 4700 square foot home late August 2021. We had multiple contractors visit but Mark had a great personality and very competitive price. Mark painted every wall except the ceiling and base boards. They completed the job in 4 days and the entire family is extremely happy. We are planning to hire Mark and his crew for future renovations in the next few months."

"Francisco was very professional and had great suggestions. He replaced and repaired stucco on our house, then painted the entire house a new color. He suggested gutters, which we are going to have him install as well. Francisco also had referrals for other contractors for other work we want completed. His prices are very fair and reasonable. My husband and I would highly recommend this company! Below are before and after pictures. The blue is the finished product."

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

Ultimately, overapplication of stain can compromise the deck's appearance, durability, and longevity. It may result in an uneven finish, with excess stain pooling, dripping, or drying into thick patches. It can also obscure the wood's natural grain and texture, detracting from the desired aesthetic. Moreover, excessive staining may not fully penetrate the wood, leading to poor adhesion and premature wear. Additionally, thick layers of stain are prone to peeling, cracking, and blistering as they struggle to bond with the surface.

Deciding whether to stain or paint a pool deck depends on your budget, desired look, and the deck's material. Both options can work. Paint offers a wider variety of color options, provides excellent water resistance, and can last longer. However, it requires a primer and can eventually fade or peel. Stain is often cheaper, easier to apply, and penetrates the wood for a more natural look and longer-lasting finish. It also has great water resistance. The downsides are fewer color options and the need for a sealant. The choice can also depend on the deck material; for example, staining may be a better option for concrete as it bonds well and lasts longer than paint.

If you have a smooth, already bonded concrete surface, painting a concrete pool deck can be a great way to brighten up the area and add longevity. If the surface has another covering or a different type of paint has been used previously, you won’t be able to paint it without removing the existing coating. Wooden decks benefit from painting as it helps to keep them watertight. Quality pool deck paints also help make the surface less slippery and less likely to gather mold and mildew or prematurely crack.

If you want to achieve a deeper, darker stain color, wait 5 to 10 minutes before wiping it off. However, wipe it off faster for a lighter tone. When wiping off the stain during this part of the process, be sure to work in the direction of the wood’s grain for best results.

Wood stain is not flammable after it dries. The solvent in wood stain is what causes the liquid form to be highly flammable, but the stain drying process involves the solvents dissolving, which leaves behind a non-flammable product on your wood project. Wood stain is, however, flammable before you apply it, so you should always store partially full cans and used wood stain rags away from sources of heat and open flames.
