"They tried to keep my old PVC pipes installed. They installed the return upside down. They didn't wire correctly.

I was told by another company I was sold a unit full of features I didn't need."

"The whole process was a breeze from start to finish. The customer service/scheduler was very polite and professional. Tech was on time to diagnose the problem. They ordered the part and he came and installed it in 15 minutes. He showed me what had gone wrong in the broken part, and told me what to listen for if it happens again on our 2nd unit."

"

My a/c stopped working due to a clogged condensation drain. The technician was at my home the very next morning, cleared the clog and got the a/c working within 20 minutes. I was so pleased with the professionalism, I asked if they had any kind of semi-annual service that I could sign up for. The technician said that they do offer that service, but I don't need it since my system is new and in good shape and that I would just be wasting my money. All I need for a few more years is an annual check up for just $75 per visit.

As a contrast, a previous a/c service came to my home to clear the drain just a few months before and he DID try to sell me their $200 semi-annual check-up service...even though I didn't really need it.

I've recommended Hurm to several friends who got stuck with broken a/c systems in the heat of the summer, and all have been just as pleased.

"I had an excellent experience with All Phase Cooling and Heating. Amin provided a free estimate and installed my whole-house dehumidifier just three days later. They were very professional, confirming the appointment for two consecutive days and even arriving early on installation day. I highly recommend this company to anyone looking for an honest and reliable A/C service. Great job!"

"I highly recommend Westbrook Service Corporation! Anne Hawkins was my sales person. I had lots of questions, and she had the answers! She was very professional, and concerned that I was purchasing the right unit for me. I believe she went above and beyond to make me happy! The two young installers were Angel and Eric. They were also extremely professional, and so courteous! It was a pleasure having them in my home. They both explained what they were doing, and how to get the best performance from my new A/C unit. When all was done, they packed up, and left my home exactly as it was before they came. Westbrook is a company that I will stay with for years to come! They are A++!"

Install Boiler questions, answered by experts

If you have a closed-system boiler that requires an expansion tank, you cannot safely operate it without one, as this risks extensive damage or even explosions. You must find a way to make room for the installation. Options include repositioning the boiler, rerouting the boiler piping to a more open area, or performing minor remodeling to create the necessary space. If you are unsure whether your boiler needs an expansion tank or how to best accommodate one, it's recommended to have a local heating service professional assess the situation. They can confirm the requirement and suggest the most practical solution.

Steam boilers require flushing at least every six to 12 months to keep them operating effectively for as long as possible. Depending on your water quality and frequency of use, you might need to do this more frequently. The flushing process helps to remove problematic buildup of sediments. While a boiler contractor near you can perform a thorough annual flush, learning how to drain the system yourself means you can do this monthly if you experience speedy mineral accumulation because of hard water.

While you’ll pay more upfront for a brand-new HVAC unit, you can save money in the long run. Here’s how to save on your new HVAC system:

  • When purchasing a high-efficiency system, your energy bills will be lower in the future.

  • You may be eligible for special offers from your local energy company.

  • Depending on the system, you may be eligible for HVAC rebates and tax credits.

  • Choose to replace your air conditioning unit and furnace simultaneously to save on labor and installation costs.

The radiators closest in proximity to the boiler heating system will heat up first. Radiators in rooms farther away from the boiler will take longer to heat up and may be the coolest rooms in the house. The radiator unit itself should heat up evenly; otherwise, there may be trapped air inside it.

Boilers are equipped with multiple safety features to ensure safe operation. These include pressure relief valves to prevent overpressure, temperature high-limit switches to avoid overheating, and flame failure safety devices in gas boilers to cut off the gas supply if the flame goes out unexpectedly. Low water cutoffs prevent operation with insufficient water levels, and pressure gauges help monitor pressure levels. Ventilation and flue systems prevent the buildup of harmful gasses. Boilers often feature error code systems for automatic shutdown during malfunctions and gas leak detection for safety. Regular maintenance is crucial to ensure these safety features function correctly.
