I asked them if they would file a claim with their insurance company and they turned that into me wanting money. I just wanted them to take responsibility for causing the damage and then fix it. I would not hire them again!"

Stained concrete floors are extremely durable and can last a lifetime if properly maintained, which includes properly sealing them every few years or as needed. While some concrete floors can last for decades, exposure to extreme weather conditions may shorten their lifespan. The standard thickness for a concrete driveway is four inches for an area that holds cars and pickup trucks. Larger vehicles like motor homes, heavier trucks, and trailers should be thicker to accommodate the added weight without cracking. Plan to pour concrete five inches thick for driveways that need to accommodate large, heavy vehicles.

Placing either a layer of mixed-size gravel or a paver base under your crushed concrete driveway is a good idea. The smaller pieces will compress and prevent the larger pieces of concrete from driving into the soil below, helping to avoid sinking over time under the weight of vehicles. For added protection from sinking and weeks, you can also install a heavy-duty weed liner beneath the gravel or paver base. Just be sure to use a permeable material to avoid drainage problems.

Yes, you should screw your flange to the subfloor, including cement. The best way to get this done is to predrill holes into the concrete using a hammer drill and a ¼-inch concrete bit. Be careful when you’re ready to bolt your flange down, as you can accidentally crack it. You can avoid this issue by not installing the screws too deep. Or, you can opt for a flange with a stainless steel ring so you don’t have to worry about cracking the plastic.
