Customers say: Quick response

"After the excellent work ‘The Builders’ did on my bedroom floors, I returned with another request. My vision was to get a customized rustic headboard and frame. My vision was translated and taken to another level!! We worked collaboratively to create a beautiful unique piece: a King size floating bed. Which through this experience I learned that it’s actually not floating and very secure!! The finish and coating was customized to my liking and turned out even better than I imagined!!! To my surprise, he over delivered and built it in one evening. Above all, I have observed a true craftsman!! I highly recommend “The Builders”due to their professionalism, quality in technique, customer service, and reliability."

Customers say: True professional

"Excellent! We have a flooring company in NJ & did not want to bring our guys to FL for the install so we went on Angi's List & found Matt. He was the 1st to come see the job, his estimate was itemized & very professional, & that impressed us. Day 1 he prepped the hallways of our condo bldg, protected our cabinets in the kitchen & b/r, & covered them in plastic. The demo went smoothly & he got rid of all of the trash. We needed some floor prep done also and a sound barrier installed prior to the floor & all was done very professional. The herringbone installation is time consuming & he never complained and it came out beautifully! Everyone who has seen it LOVES it! We cannot say enough about how well the job went and would 100% use Kodi LLC again and highly recommend him!"

Floor Sanding questions, answered by experts

You can’t build on undeveloped land without preparing it for construction, which involves running utilities to the site or accounting for private utilities like wells and septic systems and grading and compacting the soil for safe construction. Once you prepare the land, you can build on it as long as the project abides by local zoning regulations.

Prior to excavation, you should prepare the dig site and call 311 before you sign anything.

To get your site ready for excavation, you should move anything in the area that isn’t affixed to the land. You can save money on the excavation by removing hardscaping, including walkways, decks, concrete patios, and paver patios.

Before you carry out any digging, you should call 311 to confirm that there are no utility lines running through your excavation site. Skipping this step could lead to severe injury and property damage if your excavator hits a water, sewage, or gas line.

A land survey can take anywhere from a few hours to a month or more, depending on the size of the property, the type of survey, the property’s accessibility and topography, and the availability of historical property records. A simple boundary survey to determine a fence line can be completed in a day while surveying 50 acres of undeveloped woodlands may take weeks or longer.

Measure from zero on a measuring tape by placing the metal hook right up against the edge of what you need to measure. You can also latch the hook onto an open edge—of, say, a table—to accurately measure as well. If you begin at the 1-inch mark, you'll need to subtract an inch from your total.

Building a road on a slope requires careful planning and will normally require a drainage system underneath to prevent flooding and damage to the road over time. Your professional may lengthen your road to create switchbacks if the slope directly to your home is too steep, as there are regulations for maximum road slope. The drainage system will help prevent runoff from the higher side of the slope from damaging the asphalt or concrete. Keep in mind that building a road on a slope isn’t a good DIY project, as a lot can go wrong.
