"We’ve been having Brandywine Tree & Shrub do our tree maintenance for years & they’ve always done excellent work & clean up the area when finished. Have equipment available that others don’t have to do the job right even with HUGE trees. Came out for initial estimate and were here in about 2 weeks to complete the job.Usually we only have tree maintenance done but they also removed debris hanging off edges of our gutter helmets & also removed branches & other tree debris from our roof (2-story home). Cut down 2 trees completely, cleaned up and reduced canopy of three other trees (one HUGE) as well. Removed all debris. HIGHLY recommend-some arborists will butcher your trees-Brandywine Tree & Shrub won’t - they are well trained, courteous, and always do a superb job."

Customers say: Quality work

"AAA Tree Work did a great job! I highly recommend them. Josh is personable and punctual and his prices are the best around. They took some huge, 100 + trees down in my back yard, some within feet of the house with precision. Clean up was as if they were never there and worked late to beat the rain coming the following days. A+ job! Will be using them again."

"London and his work partner were phenomenal from start to finish! London runs a very professional business. He was quick to reach out to me and had great communication skills from the initial call, date of free estimate, date of project and updates in between. London is very kind and caring and he and his work partner were very hard workers on a very hot day. The ground under my back porch needed minor grading/resloping. They brought in fresh top soil, then placed landscape cloth on soil, and then spread pea gravel stone on top. Their workmanship was excellent! I can't say enough good things about London's Land Improvements. I would highly recommend them to anyone. I wish they could do every possible service needed because they were that professional and excellent at fulfilling the service I needed. Thanks London!! Keep up the great work!"

Small jobs welcome

"Crimson Bay did a beautiful job cleaning up my existing landscaping areas. They took out the old stones & washed them. They pulled up the old plastic & leveled out the ground underneath, removed moss from the concrete wall, added a weed deterrent, laid down new landscaping paper, & put the cleaned stones back & added edging. They were professional, polite, & worked diligently. I thought the price was very reasonable. I highly recommend them."

Arborists questions, answered by experts

Maple trees start the growing season by developing small groups of red flowers where the tree's fruit, the samaras, will appear in the coming weeks. Later in spring, the samaras, which many call whirlybirds or similar names, develop into single-winged seed carriers that spin when falling or drifting in the wind.

Yes, cutting a tree's roots can cause it to fall, particularly if major support roots are severed. In extreme cases, trimming roots can affect the tree's structure and stability. Many crucial roots are located just below the soil's surface. If you make severe cuts to roots more than 2 inches in diameter, you risk impacting the tree's water flow and its ability to withstand severe winds or storms. Even cutting roots less than half an inch in diameter under or outside the tree's canopy can cut off its water supply, causing it to decline, die, and eventually topple.

If you’re looking to rot a tree stump fast, potassium nitrate will work far quicker than copper nails. First, drill several holes into the stump using a power drill, then pour potassium nitrate pellets into the holes. Next, add water to help the chemical absorb into the wood, thoroughly soaking the stump to ensure the pellets dissolve and spread evenly. Afterward, cover the stump with a tarp to retain moisture and block sunlight, then place mulch on top to secure it in place.

Yes, tree roots can regenerate after they’re pruned or cut. In fact, trimming can stimulate new growth, especially in healthy trees. The tree’s roots can still grow back even after a tree is cut down, (and learning how to get rid of regrowing tree roots is a separate feat). Still, if you don’t wish to harm a tree, pruning the roots should be done with extreme care, and ideally by a professional.

The best time to transplant a tree is when it is dormant. For many trees, this means either in the fall after the leaves have dropped (around October or November) or in early spring before new growth begins (around March). The ideal timing can depend on the type of tree. Deciduous trees do well when moved in early spring or fall, while evergreens are best transplanted in early spring or late summer. For example, pine trees are best moved in early fall, but maples prefer late fall. Avoid transplanting in winter, as the frozen or hard, cold soil poses a significant risk to the roots and prevents the tree from acclimating properly.
