Customers say: Quick response

"Elvin is great. He fixed my wood double front doors and applied paint that I had picked out, as well as new handles/lock. He took his time, was very polite, and made sure everything was in order before in left. My front doors look amazing. Will be hiring him again for more work around the house. Also, his pricing was very reasonable and on point for the amount of repair and painting work he did."

"Matt has done multiple projects for me, including kitchen cabinet refacing, applying new kitchen tile, kitchen floor and all new inside doors. Everything was done timely and with excellence. Matt gave me an estimate and stayed within budget. He arrives on time and cleans up as he works. He is very polite and takes the time to answer questions completely. While he was here for my door replacement, I asked him if he could install a flag on my house, that would require a base built where it attached to the house. He completed it by improvising a beautiful custom wood mount for the flag. I highly recommend Matt for any project you may have."

"They repointed the chimney and resecured the flashing. They worked quickly and efficiently and did the work the same day as they were in the area. The owner supervised and took video of the work being done to show me. This is a unique touch in my experience and lets me know I can be involved should I need other work done long distance."

"Bill is wonderful to work with - prompt to reply, pleasant, and knowledgable. For this particular project, we needed some baseboard molding installed in our living room and we contacted Bill to come give a quote. He got back to me quickly, popped over to the house on his way home and gave me an estimate, which actually ended up being the exact cost at the end, which I appreciated. Bill is busy (always a good sign!) so he was able to complete the project ~1 week later. It came out beautifully, especially considering that he had to work with 7 1/4" high boards in a 100+ year old house with some pretty uneven floors and walls. (We've also asked him about some structural work that we need done and plan to use him for that as well.) Would absolutely recommend."

Childproofing questions, answered by experts

Yes, tamper-resistant outlets are designed to be safe for use in homes with children. They feature a spring-loaded shutter that blocks the electrical slots when not in use, which helps protect children from electric shock if they try to insert an object. While they are the safest option available and highly effective, it's important to note that few things are truly 'childproof.' Children may still try to imitate adults by inserting a plug. For this reason, it's best to use tamper-resistant outlets over less effective solutions like plastic covers, which can be removed or pose a choking hazard. Always supervise young children around any electrical outlets or devices.

Yes, tamper-resistant outlets are a safe and effective way to protect children from electrical hazards. They feature a spring-loaded shutter that blocks the outlet slots when not in use, preventing a child from inserting foreign objects. While they are the safest option available, it's important to note that few things can be considered truly 'childproof.' Children may still try to imitate adults by inserting a plug, so constant supervision around any electrical device is recommended. Tamper-resistant outlets are a much safer solution than childproofing covers, which can be removed by children and may pose a choking hazard.

A professional childproofer will first survey your home to identify potentially dangerous locations, including stairs, cabinets, and pools. Once approved, your professional will order and install the safety equipment for you.

Some ways a childproofing professional will make your home safe include:

  • Anchoring large furniture

  • Installing safety gates

  • Installing safety latches on cabinets and drawers

  • Covering railings that could trap a child

  • Covering electrical outlets

  • Installing a swimming pool fence

  • Removing or covering electrical cords where possible

Many parents, especially first-time parents, agree that professional childproofing is worth it. These professional childproofing services are trained to recognize dangerous home situations that many people would overlook until it's too late. Furthermore, professional childproofing experts have access to top-of-the-line equipment you can't purchase at most stores, providing longevity and peace of mind.

In many cases, you can DIY home childproofing with success. You can purchase childproofing tools like cabinet locks, outlet covers, and table-edge guards and install them easily.

However, it's best to have a professional childproofing service work on larger projects like pool safety or furniture anchoring. These safety measures can take a lot of time and effort to DIY, plus, you want to ensure the tasks are done correctly to keep your child safe.
