"I spoke with Joe, from Gutter Brothers, about checking out my gutters for alignment and cleaning them. His team came when at their scheduled time and performed the work that I had asked. The very next day we had a heavy rain for several hours and my gutters go the job done."

Customers say: Terrific value

"I have not contacted Danilo as of yet, so my review is not a fair one. Although I am VERY pleased with Danilo's work in cleaning the gutters, However, the solution he used left stains on my window pains and I recently had all my windows cleaned professionally - Normally, I would just clean them myself, but age has deterred me from doing so. "They came out the same day I called and had an estimate to me the next day. I asked them to estimate some other work and in the end we hired them to fix our rear gutters, install gutter guards and repair our chimney. We plan to hire them for some other projects."

"Based on his excellent Angie's List reviews I called Martin on his cell on Sunday. He came by on Monday to do an estimate and was able to schedule the work on Tuesday. Which was awesome since I'm putting my house on the market and needed to spiff up the outside.
They did an awesome job. I give them a top recommendation. Call Martin. You'll be happy you did.
Martin and his crew (4 men in all) couldn't have been more pleasant and agreeable. And they worked smart - and hard and efficiently. The white rails are now white, not green and the wood floor is super clean. I hadn't realized that they did windows too, and had someone else clean the windows yesterday. They re-cleaned the ones affected by the power washing. Likewise they did a great job on the front walk and the area around the front door.
In addition to the work I'd contracted them for they also agreed to help with a couple of other things. They moved an extremely heavy stone eagle from one part of the grounds to another, and dug out a spot to put the eagle in to. And they brought some heavy things down from the garage attic and put some other stuff up there.

Gutter Cleaning questions, answered by experts

Gutters should be cleaned at least twice a year, in the spring and in the fall, to remove the debris from trees that can clog the eavestroughs and downspouts. Debris like leaves, twigs, and seed pods can build up and cause your gutters to overflow, potentially causing damage to your roof and foundation. Water backing up under the shingles can rot the edge of your roofline. Overflow water falling next to your foundation can end up leaking into your basement or crawl space.

Pressure washing isn’t the only way to clean your gutters. Use a hose and a long-handled brush if you aren’t afraid of a little elbow grease. Alternatively, set up a stable ladder and scrub by hand with a brush. It’s also possible to purchase gutter wand extensions for hoses or a gutter vacuum if you don’t mind the investment. These help clean thoroughly without you having to scale a ladder.

Yes, gutter cleaning methods without using a ladder are available, including:

  • A curved wand attachment for your hose

  • Gutter tongs on an extension pole

  • A leaf blower gutter cleaning kit

  • Vacuum designed for cleaning gutters

Just be sure that your downspouts are connected and can direct water away from the house if you’re using a water-powered method. This will keep the water from dumping next to the house.

If you want to avoid burying your downspouts, several alternatives can help direct water away from your home's foundation. One option is to connect a rain barrel to your downspout. During a storm, the barrel collects water that you can later use for irrigating your lawn or garden. Another common solution is to install an above-ground downspout extension. This can be done in a couple of ways:

  • Splash Guards: Placing a splash guard, available at most hardware stores, under your downspout can act as a simple funnel to direct water away from the house.

  • Downspout Extensions: You can add an extension to the end of the downspout's elbow to carry water further into your yard. Some extensions are flexible, allowing you to maneuver them around landscaping.

These above-ground solutions are particularly useful if your home has a slab foundation that you cannot dig up. However, they have limitations. An extension may not move water as far from your home as an underground system. More importantly, if your yard slopes back toward your house, these methods will be ineffective, and burying your downspouts remains the best option to prevent potential flooding and water damage.

Installing a leaf protection system that keeps leaves and pine needles out of your gutter downspout is the best way to prevent clogs. Additionally, you may want to remove any trees or branches that are hanging over your downspouts to prevent leaves and branches from making their way into your gutter system. Of course, routine downspout cleaning and inspection can also help you stay ahead of clogs that create water damage at your home.
