AMC offers all aspects of masonry services in Connecticut area for a decade now. Residential and commercial customers are welcomed. All estimates are free of charge, each project is unique and it's priced based on its complexity. Majority of our billing comes in two or three steps depending on project's total cost. First payment to cover part of the cost of materials will be requested upon opening of the job. The remaining amount will be requested upon completion of the project (this amount can be divided to two payments in the progress and upon completion for bigger and more costly projects).

Masonry questions, answered by experts

Choosing the right paint color for a major investment like painting the exterior brick on your house can be a daunting task. Perhaps the most important thing is to find painted brick houses that you like and replicate the look by researching their colors and asking the homeowners for the paint color code. If all else fails, white-painted brick is a timeless, classic look that is unlikely to go out of style.

The best way to clean creosote from brick is to hire a professional chimney sweep. However, you can use a creosote log to remove excess buildup between cleanings. You can also clean minor creosote buildup using dish soap or vinegar mixed with water.

Costs depend on material type, labor, chimney requirements, and structural reinforcements.

Spalling brick is not uncommon, but it does indicate a serious issue. It can be caused by water damage, an intense freeze-thaw cycle, or something else. Painted bricks can be susceptible to spalling, as the paint doesn’t allow the porous material of the brick to breathe, which can trap moisture. Spalling should always be addressed immediately before more serious structural damage occurs.

Typically, a brick mason will repair a brick mailbox. They can provide an estimate for repairs, which may include sourcing replacement brick, mortar, and other materials. If your brick mailbox has been completely destroyed, you should check with your local building code enforcement office to confirm that a brick mailbox is allowed in your location as some areas do not allow brick mailboxes because of the potential hazard for drivers who may hit them.
