Nowadays the biggest concern we all have as homeowners is whether the contractor will be trustworthy and competent. Time and money are in short supply and having either wasted can really sour an experience. We utilize the latest technology to enhance the customer experience and work tirelessly at earning the trust of our customers. Green Grass is family owned and operated for over 30 years. We are fully licensed and insured in Connecticut and Massachusetts.

"It went exceptionally well. This is a family business that is big enough to serve you but small enough to give great customer service. Very Fair Pricing, and I mean it. Worked around my very challenging schedule and stayed late to get the job done. Would absolutely use them again and refer them to my friends."

McGuane's Landscaping is a locally owned and family run landscaping and tree service. We have been in business for over 27 years. Our main focus is on lawn fertilization and Tree and Shrub spraying. Our fully licensed technicians will inspect your property and recommend a lawn and/or tree spraying program designed just for your property.

"Had this service for two years and ultimately was never happy with the results. I found the employees to be rude, disrespectful, and not willing to work through the problems that I brought to their attention. I had asked on a number of occasions for someone to come out and figure out why my grass was constantly burning, even when being watered regularly. I was spoken to like a child and disrespected beyond belief, simply to feel like an idiot."

Lawn Irrigation questions, answered by experts

Don't pick up or dispose of aeration plugs. They will break down by themselves in one or two weeks. Rainfall will speed this up, as will watering the lawn. Mowing helps, but don't mow the grass too soon post-aeration. It's unusual that the plugs would remain after three or four weeks, but mowing and raking will break them down by that point.

There are several best practices you can do to keep your lawn looking healthy. Knowing when to water grass is among the most important. Having your sprinkler timer set to early morning is best because it gives your grass and plants enough time to absorb water before the sun and wind can evaporate it. To maximize a sprinkler’s impact, aerate your lawn once or twice per year. Doing this achieves better absorption and stronger root systems for your grass.

First, you should figure out whether you have dormant or dead grass. Dead grass won’t come back, so you’ll have to reseed if you’re hoping for a lush lawn. However, grass can go dormant if it hasn’t received enough water or if temperatures are too cold. If it’s still decently warm outside, you can revive dormant grass by watering it. But if it’s mid-January in New England, for example, you’ll need to wait until the weather warms up again. If you want to keep grass green in winter, consider a grass like Kentucky bluegrass, which maintains its color year-round.

Hiring a lawn service company can free up your schedule for other tasks and ensure high-quality results. However, doing some of the maintenance yourself can reduce your monthly costs. Another factor to consider if it's worth it is whether you already own lawn equipment and tools you will need to keep your yard looking lush. Ultimately, it depends on your budget, schedule, and the type of tasks you need to complete.

The pros are the precise treatments, such as aeration and fertilization, which protect and prepare your lawn for thriving warmer months.
