"Best price for complete awning with no extras or up charges. Removed the old awning and installed the new in a few hours. Very professional. Very neat."
"Not only was the owner phenomenal to work with, but the two men who installed the awning were both kind and extremely knowledgeable when it came time to walk me through how to use the awning."
"They were very professional, and did good work. Thought price was high, but they do a good job, and quality is very good, too. Would use them again. Quick turn around, too."
"I've used DiGiorgi a lot while living in my parents' house: roof, siding, gutters, bathroom remodel. I bought a house myself which needed some work and got an estimate from Dave. When my parents had their work done, DiGiorgi didn't do garage doors. What a shame. They had a horrible time with the installation of two doors and one opener (one door is operated manually). The rest of work is yet to be scheduled, so I will review each "project" separately. Today the door and opener were installed by Jeff (who came previously to measure) and Ed. They came 15 min early (I expected this, having used their services before) and the whole project took from about 7:45 am until about 3:30 pm or so. The guys were great: friendly, professional, neat, knowledgeable....they even swept up when done! The door itself is like a piece of furniture. So different from the cheap, uninsulated doors my parents got. The garage was actually getting warm once the door was closed (garage is attached to the house) and the temperature was in single digits in the morning. The LIftMaster opener is beyond belief: it's so quiet that I didn't even know it was operating. Again, quite different compared to my parents' opener. The products were obviously of very high quality and the installation was clean and neat and everything worked and looked great at the conclusion of the day. The whole house literally looks 80% better with the addition of this door. I look forward to completion of the rest of the improvements we have yet to schedule (snowstorms have disrupted things) in the upcoming months. "
"I hired the cleaners and builders for one time maid service to help clean up after construction. They were efficient and affordable ..did a great job thank you so much!"

"From the initial inquiry via Angie's List, to the visit from Chuck, our salesperson, to the installation and everything in between, I was pleased with the service that I received from American Jewel. The customer service was responsive upon first inquiry and I received a call from somebody the same day. When Chuck came to our house, he was knowledgeable and congenial and most of all, took the time to review all of our options and made sure our questions were answered. He also measured and advised us that someone would call us to schedule an installer to come and re-measure before the windows and patio door were ordered. We heard from someone the next day and within a week, the installer came to ensure accurate measurements and take photos. We were told that once the windows were created, we would receive another call for an installation date. I had changed the orientation of the patio door to open from left to right from the way the door was currently. I was impressed to receive a call from the office to double-check the direction that I wanted the door because the photos had showed differently from what I ordered. I also received a call from Chuck advising that the door turned out to be a custom-size and it would be $200 extra. He explained that was why they come back out and measure to make sure. No problem. About 2 weeks later, the installation day had arrived and the two guys that came were punctual and completed the job in one day as promised. They cleaned up after themselves, removed all old windows and debris and reviewed the features of the windows and doors with me. The quality of the windows are good for replacements and the door is solid as well. I opted for the upgraded brushed nickel hardware which looks great. One note to mention: I did notice that the sash on one of the windows was bent and looked like it was damaged in transport. The installer took note and wrote on my final bill that it would be replaced. As of the writing of this, I haven't heard from anybody on the replacement piece, but given my overall experience so far, I have no worries that American Jewel will take care of it. "
"Excellent! The crew started early one day, worked throughout the day, and were completely finished and all cleaned up (including dumpster and removal of all debris) by day's end."
Stainless steel and copper are the most durable and will probably last the longest, especially when you compare them to fabric awnings. Steel is the most popular if your budget isn’t a top priority, but some people prefer copper awnings over steel because they are lighter, which makes them easier to install. Aluminum offers a more budget-friendly metal awning option that is still attractive and offers some durability, especially compared to fabric.
Metal awnings last much longer than fabric thanks to their durability and resistance to fading, sun damage, and damage from the outside elements. They also need less maintenance than fabric options. Both items add curb appeal to your home, but you shouldn't expect either type of awning to add property value to your home.
If you're handy, it might be worth trying to install retractable awnings yourself. Just keep in mind that motorized retractable awnings require much more know-how, and the risk of something costly going wrong (such as damaging your new awnings) is higher.
Mechanical awnings should be easy to install for the average person with some handyman skills.
Costs depend on material type, design complexity, and additional features like lighting or gutters.
You can indeed open your awning in winter. It’s a misconception that you can only open retractable awnings in the warmer months. In fact, modern awnings are strong enough to offer a little respite from the snow if you’re someone who enjoys sipping hot cocoa outside on a beautiful winter day. But if a big storm is coming, such as a hurricane or a blizzard, it’s best to close your awning until the weather calms down.
