"Andri and Co provided great masonry services and did an amazing job in short period of time. They built a lake-front retaining wall that is beautiful, and the quality is great. All the neighbors now want one like this. We highly recommend Guri Masonry."

"From start to finish the communication was great! Everything was very professional and I couldn?t be more pleased with my results! Chris and Joe seemed to be a great team and I will definitely keep them in mind for any future projects. My outdoor kitchen has been very well loved by myself and guests since installation was completed, I used it as a bar for my wedding."

"I recently had my shingle roof replaced and I?m very happy with the results. The team was professional, punctual, and completed the job efficiently. The quality of the work is excellent, and the new roof looks great. They kept the work area clean and communicated well throughout the process. "Family Hearth and Patio replaced our deck and did an amazing job. The new deck looks great-- a huge improvement over our aging composite material deck. Paul, the owner, was responsive and worked with us to come up with a design. Their workmanship is excellent, the deck materials are high quality and the whole thing was carefully built. It was not cheap, but we felt it was worth it because the materials used and workmanship were high quality. They built it over the winter and the weather slowed things down a bit, so it took over a month. My main critique is that we did not have a formal design drawing beforehand, just some sketches, so some decisions (like exactly how to position the stairs) were made with our input as the project progressed. A formal drawing upfront would have been better. But in terms of the quality of the result, I don't think anyone could make a more solidly built, better looking deck."

Outdoor Kitchens questions, answered by experts

Whether you need permits for an outdoor kitchen depends on the project's scope and local regulations. In many cases, permits are required, particularly for permanent structures with a foundation or when running utility lines for gas, plumbing, or electricity. Simpler, non-permanent setups may not require them. Building permits for an outdoor kitchen typically cost between $250 and $500, but can be as much as $2,000 for larger projects. Separate permits for utility lines may add an additional $75 to $200. Since requirements vary by municipality, it's best to consult a professional outdoor kitchen contractor to confirm the specific permits needed for your project.

For outdoor kitchens, it's best to use wood that is naturally resistant to weather elements like water and heat, which can cause fading, mold, or mildew. Excellent choices include teak, Brazilian walnut, white oak, and mahogany. Avoid softwoods such as pine and cedar, as they are more susceptible to damage and can catch fire easily. Regardless of the wood you choose, it should be pressure-treated for extra protection and regularly maintained with sealants, oils, and stains.

Yes, an outdoor kitchen can increase your home's value, as outdoor living areas are increasingly popular among potential homebuyers. The return on investment (ROI) can vary significantly, with estimates ranging from 50% to as high as 200%. In many cases, homeowners can expect to at least break even on the project. The final ROI depends on several factors, including the kitchen's size, design, and quality, the materials used, and whether it was professionally installed. Other considerations that impact value are your home's location, how well the kitchen is maintained, and how soon you sell after the remodel. However, be mindful that an outdoor kitchen that takes up a large portion of your usable yard space could be seen as a drawback by some buyers.

Older research tells us that adding an outdoor pizza oven is unlikely to increase ROI. But thanks to an uptick in interest in this feature, it’s becoming increasingly likely that installing one will boost your home’s value by a small amount.

Yes, if you’ve got the skills and patience, you can build your own outdoor kitchen. Outdoor kitchen kits are available in various levels of completion. You can build your own outdoor kitchen simply by matching your DIY skill level with an appropriate kitchen kit, or if you’re already a pro, you can create a complete custom design from your imagination.
