"Ray was very knowledgeable and explained a good deal. He and his coworker completed the job rapidly and left everything clean afterward. The gutters look great and should be a big improvement. Would recommend Ray and his ptoducts"

"They were only interested in selling their gutter guard product, not in helping me complete my project. Did not hire. If you don't have a specific brand / style of gutter in mind, these folks might work for you, but despite reaching out to me promptly, they were not right for my project."

"Great work overall but had a few issues: 1) installer fell through ceiling, requiring ceiling sheet rock to be replaced. Took a couple of weeks for them to do it and never told us it would take the guy 3 days to complete. We had to take 3 days off work (loss of income; no work, no pay) which went uncompensated. 2) Informed Jeremy skylight was a special size no longer made. Told me not to worry about it after coming back to re-measure. On roofing day, sure enough, skylight didn’t fit and a custom one had to be ordered, requiring another unpaid day off to allow for installation. 3) to hide the imperfections from the skylight installation, they put in several border boards that don’t match color scheme but are also unevenly installed, requiring me to have to fix it. Other than this, the job was done right aside from a few left over nails. Fabio and the installation team were very efficient and did good work."

Gutter Repair and Replacement questions, answered by experts

The most common problem with gutters is clogging from debris like leaves, blossoms, and seeds from surrounding trees. This debris can block downspouts, leading to improper drainage and water overflow.

Other common issues include:

  • Leaks and holes, which can often be repaired with gutter sealant or caulk.

  • Rust, sagging, or detachment from the roofline.

  • Damage from strong storms.

  • Improperly pitched gutters that don't drain correctly.

Regular cleaning in the spring and fall is the best way to prevent most of these problems. You may need to clean them more often during periods of heavy leaf fall.

Costs depend on gutter length, damage severity, and labor rates.

Most homes will sustain water damage without gutters. When a home doesn't have gutters, water that runs off the roof will splash down to the ground to create foundation damage, rotting trim, rotting fascia, and soil erosion. A broken or compromised gutter system can be just as damaging as having no gutters. That's why it's essential to talk to roofing pros about how to fix gutters pulling away from house as soon as you notice an issue.

Outside of regular maintenance, most gutter repairs are best left to the pros. Most gutter projects require basic ladder safety and (sometimes) getting on top of your roof. Without the proper equipment (or if you generally get a little nervous with heights), you could put yourself at risk of serious injury. On top of that, improperly repaired gutters could result in longer term damage that requires a full replacement.

If your gutters get overwhelmed every time it rains, adding an extra downspout is a solution. First, you'll need to decide where to add the downspout. If your current setup only has a single downspout, one option is to place a new one at the opposite end of the gutter. If you already have a downspout at each end, adding a third one in the middle can help to lighten the load.

You can hire a professional to add a downspout yourself by cutting into the existing gutter and attaching the necessary parts, such as an outlet and brackets.
