"Craig is highly skilled, professional and hardworking. We were surprised by the level of skill and attention to detail of his work, and that is a huge compliment coming from a perfectionist. He took time to listen, finished the project before the deadline and overall just exceeded our expectations. We will be hiring him for all of our construction needs in the future."

"Dave and his team were very responsive to my need for replacing the railings going up the front steps of our home in Vail. He also suggested some”defensive measures” to try and deter the wood ants from reentering the logs. (a minimal cost). His over all prices were fair and their service was excellent. Many of my neighbors have used TopNotch with the same results. I would not hesitate to recommend them."

"Top Notch is awesome!! They listen and respond to your questions and suggestions. They offer solutions within your price range. They communicate clearly throughout the process. They do beautiful work on time and on budget. The county inspector said it was the best work he had seen and that 'the workers sure knew what they were doing.' They cleaned up the site when complete. I recommend them unreservedly and would totally hire Top Notch again!! In fact I'm now in discussions to have them re-do my Mom's deck!!"

"Brandon and his team are amazing! They do what they say, when they say, and the quality of work is top-notch. My deck needed a complete overhaul due to rotting wood and poor infrastructure that was also not to code. Brandon worked with me on the budget that I had, offering his expertise and recommendations as to what "absolutely" needed to be done vs. what could wait until Spring. His crew is honest and hard working (who works until 6pm on a Friday anymore!) - both of which are very tough to find. Last but not least, at the end of each work day the crew cleaned up, swept, and hauled away materials. I didn't have to worry about nails, wood, and whatever else all over my driveway at the end of each day, which is also important with young kids. If you are looking for deck repair or a complete deck overhaul, I highly recommend Deck Doctor! Brandon and his team with 25+ years of experience are genuinely good people!"

Gazebos questions, answered by experts

Using concrete footers is the best way to secure a gazebo on a deck without drilling. The weight of the footers is more likely to hold your gazebo in place than other methods. You can also pour concrete into flower pots to create an aesthetically pleasing concrete footer or use concrete columns to make a statement.

For many people, a gazebo is worth it, but it’s a matter of personal preference. If you love spending time outside but your yard doesn’t offer much protection from the sun or rain, then adding a gazebo might be worthwhile. Or, if you enjoy hosting dinner parties and want a nice outdoor space to gather with your friends, a gazebo could be a good investment.

Log cabins are relatively difficult to maintain compared to a traditional house. That’s because log cabins require regular upkeep and care that can include refinishing and corncob blasting, a process similar to sandblasting that shoots ground-up corncob with compressed air.

Fascia and soffits differ in their location and design, but fascia vents are the most popular alternative to soffits. These are a bit more hidden than soffits, but depending on the structure of your roof, they can cost more to install and maintain. They are also installed around the entire roof, whereas soffits can be placed only where you need them or, if the aesthetics bother you, somewhere out of sight.

Clean regularly, seal wood surfaces, and inspect for damage or rust to ensure longevity and safety.
