"The owner Matt McReavy and his partner- Trevor were simply awesome! During my initial appointment with Matt, we walked the property and took a look at the old dormant pond/landscaping and discussed what could be done differently to create an enjoyable pond and enhance the existing landscape. Since my home backs up to an Open Space and have direct views of the foothills, I wanted to make sure that the new pond (specifically) would add to the overall beauty of my backyard experience. Matt is the creator and has a unique ability to design water features, especially ponds. I couldn't be happier with the finished design. Previously, I had a pond that was poorly installed and overtime I could not enjoy - this was due to lack of filtration, incorrect lining used and leakages onto my existing landscape. When I tried to find the owner, they were no where to be found and subsequently went out of business. Prior to starting the new water design with Matt, I had questions. On a timely basis, Matt answered every single question either via email or by phone. Also, Matt completed the paperwork and paid the necessary refundable deposit to access the Open Space. Everyday Matt and Trevor showed up with a smile and advised of their plans for the day. At the end of each day, Matt and Trevor ensured that my property was cleaned and ready for the next day. They even worked on Memorial Day. There is no doubt that Materra Landscape will be in business for a long time to come, at least I certainly hope so! Thank you Matt and Trevor.:)"

"Since 2020, I have hired Boulder Ponds to clean, winterize and de-winterize my pond and multi-level waterfall due to the superior services that they provide. Bryan Thor (Primary on site) at Boulder Ponds does a wonderful job while providing bi-annual pond & waterfall cleaning, taking care to provide a safe environment for the fish who need to temporarily be relocated during the cleaning process. In addition, Bryan is so personable, knowledgeable and willing to share excellent recommendations to improve ongoing care of my pond."

"Jake and John provided demolition services for a minor subdivision in Englewood. They did an outstanding job. The job was completed on time and on budget without any surprises. I am getting ready to build a minor subdivision on the lot where they completed the demolition work. I am happy to say that they will be doing the excavation, foundations, flat work and landscaping for this project. I highly recommend them because they do a great job, have high standards and are great communicators. Thank you Jake and John! www.Kavodx.com is the real deal."

"Mr. Valasquez gave a quote on installing a complete lawn irrigation system with a rain detector. We hired his company. They did a fantastic job. The job was completed in a timely manner. It is great, not to have to haul the garden hose around the lawn, to water. We highly recommend Valasquez Landscape and give them 5 stars."

"The 1st phase is completed with tree and shrub removal plus the horizontal fence is installed to perfection. I can not praise Sean McMahon enough. He took our ideas and built upon them and always checked with us during installation to see if it was to our satisfaction. In fact his crew made an error and he was very fair with us resulting in a nicer looking fence. His crew is polite and hard working. Second phase will start when weather cooperates on running sprinkler system to front, a little grass with xeriscape plus certain shade of rock, mulch, evergreen, shrubs and flowers for front yard. This is not an easy concept to undertake and Sean is very much up for the challenge."

Aquarium Services questions, answered by experts

The best times of year to empty or pump a septic tank are spring and fall. Many professionals recommend spring because the ground has thawed, making the tank easier to access and the waste less likely to be frozen. Pumping before summer also helps avoid conflicts with vacations or outdoor gatherings. Fall is another great option, as contractors may be less busy, and servicing the tank can reduce the risk of overflow from winter and spring precipitation. While summer is also a suitable time, winter is generally not recommended due to frozen ground.

No. You should never empty a septic tank yourself because it involves working with specialized equipment (that you probably don’t have) and puts you at risk of breathing in toxic fumes. Plus, once you’ve removed the waste, you’ll need to transport it and dispose of it safely. Instead, call an expert for this job. On average, hiring a pro to pump a septic tank costs $550.

The bacteria already present in your septic system should be enough to break down solids in a properly maintained septic tank. However, if you’re in a DIY mood, you can try adding (well-mashed) rotten tomatoes to help the good bacteria fulfill their duty. Just make sure you give them a couple hours to work after flushing them down.

You should pump your septic tank once every two to four years for a family of four, depending on your septic tank size. You should pump a 1,000-gallon septic tank every two years, while a 1,500-gallon tank should be pumped every four years. Water usage also affects how often you should pump your septic tank. If you notice slow drains, foul smells, or gurgling sounds from your drains, you should pump your septic tank as soon as possible.

Several things can ruin a septic tank over time, including dumping harsh chemicals (like bleach and ammonia), pesticides, and paint thinners down your drain because they can kill the bacteria in your septic tank. You should also make sure to only flush waste and toilet paper in your toilet—otherwise, you could clog your system.
