Find Gas log pros in Silverthorne

"To whom it may concern, We recently had Ilya Sidorin to our home to repair our gas log fireplace. It’s been starting poorly for a year and hadn’t been serviced since we acquired our home in 2013. Ilya made a preliminary diagnosis of a faulty valve on the phone and we scheduled an appointment. On the appointed day he showed up exactly on time. He even called to let me know he was on the way. For a Summit County contractor, that’s saying a lot He was most pleasant in introducing himself and went right to work. He covered the work area to protect the flooring and tile surround from debris and damage. In removing the glass panel, he pointed out that it was installed incorrectly. Not only was this a breakage hazard, but a leak hazard as well. It was quite obvious he knew his trade and was a skilled professional. His original diagnosis proved to be the correct and he brought the required part with him. He did more than was required including a thorough cleaning of the glass and a high tech “sniffer” test to ensure there were no leaks. We can’t speak highly enough of Rocky Mountain Fireplaces. Ilya runs his business in a manner that ensures satisfied and repeat customers. This is a contractor who inspires confidence. Job well done! Chris & Shari Dorton Wildernest"

Gas Logs questions, answered by experts

Costs depend on the fireplace model, venting complexity, labor, and whether additional structural modifications are needed.

Safety concerns with propane boilers include proper venting to prevent carbon monoxide buildup, secure gas line connections, and regular inspection of safety controls. Professional boiler installation and annual maintenance are essential to minimize risks. Having a carbon monoxide detector installed in your home is essential for early detection of any leaks or ventilation issues.

Before you hire a natural gas plumber, it’s a good idea to get quotes from multiple pros to find the best value. When speaking with prospective plumbers, ask them if they’re licensed to work with gas lines, what precautions they take to ensure safety during the project, and how to handle an emergency if there’s a leak after the job. You may also want to know about warranties or guarantees, additional costs, how to prep your home, and if you’ll need to relight your pilot lights.

The cost to repair a gas leak is $120 to $250 on average, but it could be as costly as $5,000, depending on the leak location and severity.

For example, if you have drywall covering the source of the leak, you'll need to hire a contractor to replace the removed drywall. In addition, if the leak is underground, you'll need a contractor to excavate the ground to reach the gas line.

Oil furnaces don’t emit poisonous or highly flammable gases, making them less dangerous in your home than gas furnaces because they have a much lower chance of combusting. An oil furnace does pose the risk of causing a fire if it tips over, but it is generally considered safer compared to a gas furnace.
