"I have a driveway that's approximately 1/10 mile long and a parking area approximately 40' X 80' covered with 3/8" gravel which is very difficult to plow, complicated by the fact that some spots have to be back dragged preparatory to the snow being moved out of the path of traffic. I used to do it myself with an ATV and a 4' blade and it would take me about 2 hours, usually at an inopportune time and in inhospitable weather. When I was done, it looked like the snowy equivalent of a putting green, but at my age, I'm very willing to sacrifice fine detail for having someone else do it while I sit inside doing paid work. Dustin is personable, bright, attentive to detail, highly skilled and has an understanding of finesse. So far, he has only plowed once for me and did a better job than my last three contractors. As far as I'm concerned, he has a job with us for the next twenty years and I'm thinking of hiring him for some drywall work. I set very high standards in my work and expect equivalent quality from people I hire. My expectations have been met and exceeded. A+++++"

Drywall questions, answered by experts

Although they are used for similar tasks, spackle and joint compound are not the same. Joint compound, also known as drywall mud, consists of limestone and gypsum and is primarily used for large-scale projects like taping and finishing seams on new drywall. Spackle is composed of gypsum and binding agents, making it a thicker compound best suited for small wall repairs like filling nail holes or cracks, as it dries quickly and is easy to sand. For small repairs, either product can be suitable. However, you can use joint compound for small jobs in place of spackle, but you cannot use spackle for large-scale taping and mudding projects.

Very little. One inch of water can stain walls, warp wood, and create a perfect environment for mold growth. One to two inches of water can do significant damage to drywall, insulation, and electrical systems. Anything over that is considered an extensive flood, often resulting in severe structural damage.

You’ll want to inspect your plaster walls for signs of damage before painting. If you notice soft spots, deep cracks, bubbling, or areas where the plaster is crumbling or pulling away from the wall, it likely needs repair. While small hairline cracks are common and likely cosmetic, you should address larger issues before painting to ensure a quality, smooth finish.

Glass walls are more expensive overall than their brick or drywall counterparts. However, if you need walls for a building with more than two or three stories, glass walls are the more budget-friendly option.

Pros ensure smooth finishes and lasting repairs, avoiding visible patches.
