"Ned Stevens provides incompetent and false gutter /roof work. They said the drip from my roof would stop after they did some work. The drip is still there and now I have to hassle and take my valuable time to get them to reimburse me. and now I have to find another contractor to do the work. But Ned Stevens is so incompetent they can't figure simple water, gutter and rood issues."

Roofing, gutters, painting, decks, carpet.....everything from the roof down or from the floor on up.!!

"I signed a contract to do work with People’s Choice Roofing (P.C.R.) in August of 2019 and after 7 months they had still done nothing despite a number of phone calls. Early on, they asked me for half of the money down ($4,500) so they could buy materials for the project. This was not an unreasonable request. Some roofing companies do it others do not. So I gave them the money and shortly after some dealings with my insurance company they began to tell me how insurance companies were abusing their power and that I needed to stand up for my rights and sign a document called an "Assignment of Claim" (AOC). This would enable them to get the funding they were asking for from the insurance company. To sign this meant that I would essentially sign over my rights in dealing with my insurance company to PCR. This did not sound like a good idea to me because I would be giving up my control of the project to the roofer. Even though there was no requirement to sign this AOC stated on the contract, they would not do the work until I signed the AOC. I refused to sign. When I contacted the Better Business Bureau to register a formal complaint, a BBB agent told me that PCR had a “D+” rating and that there was another party who had made the same type of complaint against PCR (ie, losing their money). I called the regional building department and found out that there were many complaints and lawsuits against PCR. My recommendation is not to do business with People’s Choice Roofing!"

Gutter Cleaning questions, answered by experts

Yes, it’s okay to use a pressure washer to clear and clean your gutters. Be careful to avoid the outside of the gutters, as getting too close with the powerwasher can peel away the paint. Also, be careful to avoid causing any damage to seams that may be in the corners or along the length of the gutter.

Gutter guards work in heavy rain, but perhaps not as well. The main purpose of gutter guards is to protect your gutters from getting clogged with debris, which can be carried (or worsened) by heavy rain. However, a clogged gutter isn’t the only reason rain isn’t traveling through your gutter properly. Other reasons include roof shingles extending past your gutters, improperly installed gutters, or incorrect gutter sizes.

If you suspect you have any of these other gutter issues, it may be more cost-effective to repair your gutters first and see if that solves the problem before investing in gutter guards.

Failing to clean leaves out of gutters can lead to blockages, preventing proper water flow. This can cause gutters to overflow, leading to water pooling around your home’s foundation and increasing the risk of basement flooding or structural damage. Stagnant water in clogged gutters can attract pests like mosquitoes and rodents or cause the gutters to sag under the weight of debris. Regular cleaning ensures proper drainage and prevents these costly and inconvenient issues.

Gutters should be cleaned at least twice a year, in the spring and in the fall, to remove the debris from trees that can clog the eavestroughs and downspouts. Debris like leaves, twigs, and seed pods can build up and cause your gutters to overflow, potentially causing damage to your roof and foundation. Water backing up under the shingles can rot the edge of your roofline. Overflow water falling next to your foundation can end up leaking into your basement or crawl space.

The trick to getting gleaming gutters can vary based on the material of your gutters. Aluminum gutters can often be restored to pristine condition by using a cloth to scrub them with a solution consisting of 1 cup of vinegar and 1 cup of water. Vinyl gutters can be whitened using dish soap and water. For deeply stained vinyl gutters, adding bleach with water and dish soap may help to remove black streaks. Many retailers sell premixed gutter sprays. Applying cleaning solutions to dry gutters before rinsing can help cleaners attach to dirt and grime for easier removal.
