"Affordable pricing and extremely good work. Our windows sparkle as if they were brand new, maybe even better. I will definitely hire Hazen and JHJ Window Cleaning again."

Customers say: Quick response

"We started out with an issue with the power washing of my fence and the wood on my gate being stripped rather than washed. I took pictures of the damage if there was a question. Once the technician correctly starting power washing the job went well. The stain hid a lot of the damage of the gate. The staining of my fence was good and the technician was very courteous and everything was cleaned up when he left."

Customers say: True professional

"Original work was to clean fireplace and install chimney and vent caps. Also removed birds from our chimney. Franco pointed out other issues which we were unaware of. He corrected those too. Franco and his crew were very compliant with COVID-19 mask requirements. We are using him again to do some interior fireplace work as well."

Deck Cleaning questions, answered by experts

Local building codes don’t specify the number of steps a deck can have before a railing is required, mainly because stair height varies widely. Most areas require decks 30 inches or higher to have a railing. While not exact, that roughly equates to four to seven steps.

Coping is the material that lines the perimeter of a pool and seals the transition between the top of the pool wall and the water. Decking surrounds the poolscape and extends far beyond the water's edge to provide a safe walking and lounging area. In short, coping is the border between the decking and the pool itself.

If you want to make a deck cleaner from products already in your home, there are various options. The most common is to use a gentle blend of 1 gallon of warm water and 2 tablespoons of ammonia-free dish soap. You can also mix water with distilled vinegar. Sprinkling on some baking soda can help to remove mold and mildew. You can add oxygen bleach (but never damaging chlorine bleach) to the water and ammonia-free dish soap solution for something a bit stronger.

The choice between Trex, a brand of composite decking, and PVC decking depends on your priorities regarding budget, appearance, and environmental impact. Both materials are durable and resistant to moisture and insects. Trex is often considered more eco-friendly because it contains recycled wood and plastic and is 25% recyclable, while PVC is fully synthetic and harder to recycle. Aesthetically, Trex is designed to look more like real wood, whereas PVC often has a glossier, more plastic-like finish. In terms of cost, Trex is typically less expensive than PVC.

Both composite and PVC decking are excellent alternatives to wood. However, while composite is moderately priced and lasts around 30 years, PVC costs more and lasts longer. PVC is also more durable, though both materials are more durable than wood decking. Ultimately, the choice between composite and PVC decking will come down to your budget and preferences.
