"Peter and his crew overlaid the asphalt in a parking lot at the new location of the Denver Museum of Miniatures, Dolls & Toys at 830 Kipling. Peter and his crew did an amazing job. The parking lot was in very bad shape. But they removed damaged asphalt, milled it down, filled holes, dealt with Kipling traffic and overlaid the asphalt; blending it into the sidewalks and adjacent patio. They completed this efficiently and carefully. Stop by and take a look. I highly recommend 5280 SealCoating for all your paving needs!"

"Outstanding experience with W. Holmes Asphalt. They serviced three of our properties (one residential and two commercial). The pricing was very fair and the customer service was AMAZING. William was an excellent communicator, professional and very easy to work with. We were very impressed with his reliability. The team was on time or early for every job. We will absolutely use them again in the future and would HIGHLY recommend them to anyone for asphalt needs. Thanks William and team!!"

"I recently hired Mike's Sealcoating to seal my driveway. I couldn't be more impressed with the job that he and his crew provided. Before he gave me an estimate, Mike spent plenty of time with me to discuss all my options and the process that it would require to bring my 10 yerar old driveway up to the condition needed to help prolong it's life. The entire process was handled with professionalism and care. Mike's commitment to quality and customer service was outstanding. The price was fair, and the workmanshp was to-notch. Mike did exactly what he said he would do and he completed the project in a timely manner. If you're looking for a reliable, honest, and skilled asphalt sealcoating professional, I highly recommend MIKE'S SEALCOATING."

"I purchased an Angie’s List Big Deal for this service and the service turned out well, but I think my only issue was that it took them quite a while, I think it was over a month, before they came out to do the service. When I spoke to the gentleman who owns the company he told me they had a lot of business because of the Big Deal. Although I think the quality of the deal was good and he was professional it took quite a while and I got a little concerned about if they did not follow through how I would get my money back and things like that. But, that did not turn out to be the problem. They did follow through and they did do the work.  My husband observed what they did and the final product and felt good about it. We felt like they did what we had purchased and that it was reasonable. It took a little while to get it scheduled and I had to follow up a couple of times. I emailed one of their gentlemen a number of times and it took a little while to get it done. I feel like if we had needed someone to come out the week we purchased the deal it would have been a problem. They knew that it took them longer than it should have, but when we finally set a date they came when they should have."

Paving Services questions, answered by experts

You should place a layer of thick landscaping fabric directly over the concrete slab and then a thin layer of leveling sand over that to protect the pavers from moisture. For border pavers, you should plan on locking them in place with polyurethane adhesive. This will prevent them from shifting under foot traffic.

While some areas may allow for a slope of up to 20%, this is often the maximum slope for driveways, with a few exceptions of up to 25%. Other regions may have a maximum of 12%, 15%, or 18%, so check with your local building department to ensure you’re laying a driveway that is up to code for your location.

A driveway approach is the part of a driveway where the public road meets the private driveway. This section contains several key elements, including the driveway apron, the curb cut, and the end slope. Depending on the slope of the driveway, this area may also contain the trench drain.

Decomposed granite and caliche can both harden into a solid surface using a plate compactor. However, due to decomposed granite’s fine particles, it’s not suitable for driveway surfaces. Some homeowners use pea gravel mixed with a gravel-binding resin to bind the loose stones and create a solid surface that won’t shift like loose gravel.

Building a road on a slope requires careful planning and will normally require a drainage system underneath to prevent flooding and damage to the road over time. Your professional may lengthen your road to create switchbacks if the slope directly to your home is too steep, as there are regulations for maximum road slope. The drainage system will help prevent runoff from the higher side of the slope from damaging the asphalt or concrete. Keep in mind that building a road on a slope isn’t a good DIY project, as a lot can go wrong.
