"Quick response to the Home Advisor notification from Vail Techs Mechanical and they were at my home the next day. They were very forthright in what was causing my heating issue and minimized the cost to rectify. Contacted me two days after their service call to check the fix."

"We call CraigStar for everything! Craig has repaired our appliances (oven, ice maker, dishwasher, dryer), installed a chandelier for us, fixed our toilets, fixed our radiant heating system and most recently has repaired drywall for us. The first year that we moved into our home we ran into many issues that needed repairs. Craig always does a great job in a timely manner. The things have been fixed have been working great and have not needed any more attention."

"I he was very professional and on time. I had a quote from another contractor to replace a zone valve and expansion tank that I thought was excessive. He assessed my furnace and zone valve. He found that it wasn’t wired properly and fixed the issue within minutes."

"American Plumbing, Heating & Cooling was very responsive and quick to have a Pro meet me at my house to provide an estimate and how the work would be done. We ended up using our local company for ease of communication, but for any new project I would work with American."

"Jesse from Mountain HVAC did a fantastic job on our new furnace install. We were living with area heaters because our old furnace had to go and Jesse made every effort to complete the project as quickly as humanly possible. Even under pressure from the time crunch, the install was flawless. Great company, great ownerâ ¦ my kids even like him."

"Hired Eric for just a couple of small jobs around our house. He came at the exact time he told me he would and always got back to me right away when I had questions. Everything was fixed perfectly. We are going to finish our basement and because of the work on the small jobs we decided hire him to do the plumbing. Could not recommend him more. Will update review again when the basement job is finished."

Heating and Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

Condensation forms when warmer, outside air combines with cooler air in your ductwork. This can happen when there are leaks in your air ducts, your HVAC system has a dirty air filter, or there’s a lack of insulation around the ducts. To prevent it from happening, replace your HVAC filters as directed. Also, once every five years, hire a local air duct cleaner to clean and inspect them.

Yes, through thorough cleaning and inspection, optimizing functionality, and reducing energy use.

A frosty expansion valve that isn't blowing out cool air is a sure sign that it’s time to replace it. It might also be time to replace the TXV valve if your AC unit switches off soon after turning on or if you have poor airflow in your home.

An air conditioner’s watt usage depends on multiple factors, including the type of AC unit, its size, and how often you use it. With that said, most central air conditioners consume between 3,000 and 3,500 watts. Meanwhile, window AC units use 900 to 1,400 watts, and portable air conditioners consume 2,900 to 4,100 watts.

If you’re shopping around for a rooftop AC unit, you may hear them referred to as “package units.” That’s because rooftop AC systems are all-in-one heating and cooling units that connect directly to your home’s ductwork. If your AC repair pro references a package unit, they are referring to the system on your roof.
