"Quick response to the Home Advisor notification from Vail Techs Mechanical and they were at my home the next day. They were very forthright in what was causing my heating issue and minimized the cost to rectify. Contacted me two days after their service call to check the fix."

"I he was very professional and on time. I had a quote from another contractor to replace a zone valve and expansion tank that I thought was excessive. He assessed my furnace and zone valve. He found that it wasn’t wired properly and fixed the issue within minutes."

"Jesse from Mountain HVAC did a fantastic job on our new furnace install. We were living with area heaters because our old furnace had to go and Jesse made every effort to complete the project as quickly as humanly possible. Even under pressure from the time crunch, the install was flawless. Great company, great ownerâ ¦ my kids even like him."

"Hired Eric for just a couple of small jobs around our house. He came at the exact time he told me he would and always got back to me right away when I had questions. Everything was fixed perfectly. We are going to finish our basement and because of the work on the small jobs we decided hire him to do the plumbing. Could not recommend him more. Will update review again when the basement job is finished."

"Hydronix did several things for us, including venting, piping and ductwork. They were easy to work with and they did a great job. Their estimates were delivered timely and the work was completed on time and within budget. We added onto the scope a couple of times and there was no problem doing so. They are really capable and honest—they do the job the right way. I highly recommend Hydronix."

Heating and Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

Winterizing can still help you save money on energy costs and help prepare your AC for its work next year when you turn it back on. We suggest planning for at least some maintenance, even if winters are mild in your area.

The cost of annual maintenance depends on the type of HVAC system you have. AC service typically costs an average of $200 but ranges from $100 to $550. If your system needs repairs, the price will vary significantly depending on what needs fixing. However, addressing the issues as they arise can prevent further damage to your unit and keep it operating efficiently for much longer.

Yes, through thorough cleaning and inspection, optimizing functionality, and reducing energy use.

When first installed, flex ducts shouldn’t cause airflow problems in your home. However, because flex ducts aren’t the sturdiest and require extra support, they lose their durability over time and begin to sag, which can inhibit airflow down the road. Also, if your flex ducts aren’t tight enough, your HVAC could work twice as hard for the same air pressure. If you’re worried about the airflow in your home, a rigid duct may be your best bet.

Yes, you should turn off your AC if it’s leaking. Turning off the system prevents more condensation from leaking and reduces strain on the unit if a damaged internal component or lack of refrigerant is the cause. While this may temporarily stop the leak, water can continue to drip from a thawing coil even after the system is off. As soon as you notice a leak, turn off the unit and investigate the source or call a professional for an inspection.
