"If I had to do this again, I would hire this company. Good people that knew what they were doing. Good price based on all the work they had to do. I had a mix of blow-in services. Blow in the wall where there was no insulation in the garage - that's hard work to get it in there right. The quote came with a person to come back and patch the wall holes, that was nice. In the attic they added insulation and sealed up some penetrations. This part went pretty quickly and I'm looking forward to lower heating and A/C bills."

"Green Slate did an outstanding job of working with our insurance company to insure we received full replacement of our roof. Communication was excellent, always timely and they did what the said they were going to do when they said they were going to do it. The crew was friendly and hard working. I highly recommend Green Slate for roof repair and installation."

"Jorge and his team were excellent from start to finish. He quoted the project quickly, explained everything about the project, and scheduled me in within days. His team completed the entire install of a 3-story, 2000 sqft house in 4 days. They color matched my neighbor perfectly and the install looks seamless. I could not recommend Jorge and his team more."

"Gentleman came out and reviewed my situation (which is unusual) made some professional suggestions but listened to me when I asked what I could do. He gave me a verbal estimate on the spot, followed up with a written estimate. On the day of installation he and his crew were on time, efficient, took care to keep the area clean and removed my old gutters, installed the new with downspouts and extensions in very quick order. Highly recommend this company."

Eifs Installers questions, answered by experts

They meet local code demands for escape routes, lighten basements, and aid in reducing overall humidity.

Most modern egress windows installed in basements open outward into a window well, although some older homes have in-swing windows. Egress windows, like casement windows used in other parts of the home, such as bedrooms and bathrooms, may open inward, and these windows are often larger than outward-opening windows.

The proper way to install a window well is to measure the window, dig a hole deeper and wider than the window, place a drainage tube and cap, anchor the well to the foundation, caulk the seam, and backfill the hole. The job requires tools such as a hammer drill and auger and some heavy digging. Proper placement and window well installation are critical to preventing water from leaking into the window.

Yes, egress windows are grandfathered. However, this comes with some specifications. If you are remodeling a basement or adding a sleeping area, you’ll need to update the egress windows to be up to proper code. But, if you’re leaving your home as is, you do not have to adhere to these requirements.

Yes, you can install a bay window in an existing house. You’ll need to have a structural engineer draw up plans to add the necessary support to your exterior load-bearing walls and a general contractor to make the changes to the framing around the new wall opening. This will cost an average of $3,000. After that work is done, a window installer can set the new bay window in place.
